Monster Hunter Wilds Trailers Showcase Basic Mechanics, Hook Slinger, Focus Mode, and More

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of hunting beasts and slaying dragons under my belt, I must say that the latest revelations about Monster Hunter Wilds have left me simply awestruck! The Focus Mode alone has got me salivating like a rabid Gravios. No more will my Great Sword swings miss their mark due to pesky monsters leaping behind me – unless, of course, the monster in question is the infamous Lagiacrus, who seems to have mastered the art of teleportation.

At Gamescom later this month, Capcom plans to unveil a fresh trailer and playable demo of “Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.” To build anticipation among attendees, they’ve already started releasing trailers showcasing the game’s updated mechanics and new features. Here are some of the trailers you can watch below.

In the latest update, one significant novelty is the introduction of Focus Mode, enabling players to manually direct their attacks and strikes. This means no more misdirected True Charged Slashes with the Great Sword due to a monster jumping behind you (except when it does). Additionally, Focus Mode highlights fresh wounds on monsters, striking these areas causes extra damage.

Players have the option to execute Focus Attacks, which inflict greater damage on injuries. In addition, there’s a unique feature called the Seikret that functions as a mount, helping you navigate towards your quest target automatically. The Hook Slinger tool allows you to throw objects at monsters, causing them to stagger or become disoriented. Interestingly, it can also be used to swiftly grab environmental items or pull down hanging rocks.

In the new update, you’ll notice a quick glance at the ability to exchange weapons mid-hunt – this empowers players to carry an additional weapon during expeditions, and swap between them instantly without having to return to the main base.

2025 will see the release of Monster Hunter Wilds on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and personal computers (PC). Keep an eye out for additional information and trailers in the upcoming weeks.
