Monster Jam: The Rock Announces New Disney Monster Truck Movie

As a lifelong fan of high-octane action, I am absolutely pumped for the upcoming movie, Monster Jam! Growing up, I remember the thrill of seeing those massive trucks tear through the dirt and leap over obstacles at local events. The roar of the engines, the thunderous impact as they collide, and the sheer spectacle of it all were like nothing else.

Over the weekend at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson unveiled a new film titled “Monster Jam”. This movie is inspired by monster truck drivers and follows the branding of a well-known series of competitive motorsports events for monster trucks that have been running across the U.S. and beyond since 1992. At Monster Jam competitions, the trucks participate in three types of contests – racing, two-wheel stunts, and freestyle, though it remains unclear how closely the movie will follow this structure. However, the Monster Jam website describes the film as taking place within the “Monster Jam universe”, suggesting a close resemblance.

During the intervals between major performances at Monster Jam events, there are additional competitions designed to showcase driving prowess and the ability to create excitement. For instance, have you ever watched a person perform multiple donuts in a gigantic truck? In the upcoming movie, it would be intriguing to find out if they include a car-crushing contest. This competition is synonymous with monster truck imagery, but Monster Jam no longer hosts it as of 2019.

John shared his excitement on Friday night about a unique chance to develop an engaging, thrilling, and entertaining experience for our global families. By putting viewers in the perspective of legendary monster trucks and their unconventional drivers, we aim to create the immersive reality known as Monster Jam. In essence, buckle up, ladies and gentlemen, because Monster Jam is going to be quite a rollercoaster ride!

As a massive fan myself, I’d put it like this: “The Rock and Monster Jam are an unstoppable force! That’s what Juliette Feld Grossman, CEO of Monster Jam parent company Feld Entertainment, stated on the Monster Jam website. We’re over the moon to join forces with Dwayne Johnson and Walt Disney Studios to transport cinema-goers into the pulsating world of Monster Jam. This live-action adventure will take you from the stadium to the big screen, bringing the colossal Monster Jam trucks and characters to life in a way that’s sure to leave you breathless!”

It’s intriguing to observe Disney collaborating with Monster Jam, as it seems they might be leveraging the instantly identifiable vehicles tied to their brand for some purpose. Trucks like Gravedigger, Earth Shaker, and El Toro Loco are iconic within the monster truck enthusiast community, and their names resonate even with casual fans who aren’t deeply invested in motorsports.

If you’d like to familiarize yourself with the Monster Jam brand before the upcoming movie, you can check out some of their events on their official YouTube channel. In fact, some events have been broadcast live. Here’s a link to one such event.
