The timeless games developed by the renowned Japanese studio Irem are gradually being released on modern gaming platforms, and this trend will persist as Irem Collection Volume 3 becomes available starting from 1st July.
This collection includes the multilingual game ROMs for three different games: Mr. Heli, Mystic Riders, and Dragon Breed.
If you’re unfamiliar with this game, it debuted in 1987 as Mr. Heli. In it, you control a unique helicopter equipped with legs, navigating colorful, maze-like levels.
In other words, the game Mystic Riders incorporates an element of whimsy similar to cotton candy, offering a delightful journey on broomsticks as you navigate through fantastical landscapes in side-scrolling combat sequences.
What really piques our curiosity is Dragon Breed from 1989. It offers an experience where you soar on the back of a colossal dragon named Bahamoot, engaging in grand battles that can be likened to “R-Type’s” gameplay but with winged combat.

The games listed feature several enhancements for user convenience, such as customizable controller settings, instant saving and rewinding capabilities, and adjustable screen filters. Additionally, Mystic Riders is designed to allow local multiplayer right from the start.
