Mortal Kombat 1 Could Get More Content After Khaos Reigns, Director Suggests

As a long-time Mortal Kombat fan and avid gamer, I couldn’t be more thrilled to hear that NetherRealm Studios and WB Games are planning to deliver multiple years of content for Mortal Kombat 1. The recent reveal of the second year of DLC, which includes a story expansion and new characters, has already gotten my heart racing with excitement.

Recently, NetherRealm Studios and WB Games revealed some exciting news about the second year of DLC for “Mortal Kombat 1.” This includes a story expansion titled “Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns,” as well as six new characters to play with. It’s also worth mentioning that there could be more post-launch support in store for the fighting game.

In a conversation held at San Diego Comic-Con (as reported by Nintendo Life), the co-creator and director of the series, Ed Boon, hinted that, much like Mortal Kombat 11 which followed up with an enhanced version called Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate after its own story expansion in Aftermath, Mortal Kombat 1 could also be looking forward to several years of content updates. This might even include some content planned for release next year.

I’ve been thoroughly enjoying Mortal Kombat 11, with its expansions Aftermath and Ultimate. We’ve been continually adding new characters and storylines, making our gaming experience even more engaging. Back when we first released Mortal Kombat 1, we were confident it would be a long-term project. So here we are in year two.

It’s not a definite confirmation, but it wouldn’t shock us if Mortal Kombat 1 received further support past the soon-to-be-released DLC. We might need to wait some time before learning more about potential future content.

1st Option: The release of Mortal Kombat 1: Chaos Unleashed is set for September 24th, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and personal computers (PC).
