Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Trailer Gives Ghostface the Perfect Scream Fatality

Mortal Kombat 1: Khaos Reigns Trailer Gives Ghostface the Perfect Scream Fatality

As a die-hard fan of both Mortal Kombat and the Scream franchise, I couldn’t help but feel a rush of adrenaline when I witnessed Ghostface making its grand entrance into the Mortal Kombat universe! Growing up, I remember the chilling screams that echoed through the night whenever Ghostface appeared on the silver screen, and now to see it unleashing its brutal Fatalities in the same realm as Sub-Zero and Scorpion… it’s a dream come true!

In the latest launch trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 expansion, players have been introduced to the new Fatalities for characters like Noob Saibot and Sektor, and now it’s Ghostface’s turn as the DLC fighter from the Scream movies. Unlike other fighters, Ghostface fights solo, but in a truly Mortal Kombat-style Fatality, multiple Ghostfaces appear to deliver the finishing blow to their opponent. Other Fatalities and Animalities were also displayed, but Ghostface’s was undoubtedly the most captivating, reminiscent of a post-credits scene revelation.

The trailer titled “Khaos Reigns” showcased below is filled with imaginative deaths, making it an ideal choice if you’re seeking a compilation of brutal scenes from the DLC. However, if you’re specifically interested in Ghostface’s finishing move, you can jump directly to the 2 minutes and 15 seconds mark where Ghostface steals the spotlight for the final 20 seconds.

For enthusiasts of the “Scream” series who’ve watched multiple movies, it’s common that multiple killers masquerade as Ghostface. Since we haven’t been shown all of Ghostface’s moveset, it could be that some of its more dramatic moves involve summoning another Ghostface for assistance. However, in at least one Fatality scene, we undoubtedly witness more than one Ghostface.

Instead of just two Ghostfaces, the Fatality places the victim in a truly spine-chilling situation that echoes classic slasher movies like Scream and others. In these films, the doomed characters frequently struggle to keep their footing as they flee, mirroring the Ghostface Fatality’s disorienting effect. This minor enhancement adds an authentic horror feel, staying true to Ghostface’s terrifying origins.

Regrettably, enthusiasts eagerly anticipating playing as Ghostface from Scream in the Khaos Reigns DLC will need to exercise patience, as the release date is set beyond September 24th. Initially, Sektor, Cyrax, and Noob Saibot will be accessible upon launch, but we haven’t been informed of the arrival dates for Ghostface, the T-1000, or Conan the Barbarian yet. Since Ghostface is being exhibited here, it’s likely that they’ll appear first among the three licensed Killers in the game, but specific release dates are still to be announced for confirmation.
