Mortal Kombat 1 Reveals New Free Skin

As a dedicated Mortal Kombat fan since the ’90s, I must say, the recent addition of the “Blinding Radiance” skin for Kenshi Takahashi has left me dazzled! The sleek gold suit and gold-rimmed shades are quite the sight to behold. While I understand that not everyone may be thrilled about the choice of characters receiving skins, I’m just happy to see a variety of options becoming available for free.

For the past two months, players of Mortal Kombat 1 have been gifted with numerous free character skins. These skins showcased an exciting blend of classic designs and completely fresh looks. The most recent addition to the game introduces a new appearance for Kenshi Takahashi, titled “Blinding Radiance”. This skin adorns Kenshi with a stylish golden suit, gold-framed sunglasses, and even golden shoes! It’s so bright that opponents might find themselves temporarily blinded, while players who prefer Kenshi as their main character now have an attractive new skin option, particularly considering its affordable price!

The response to the newly introduced skins in the game has been somewhat divided. While some players have expressed dissatisfaction with the characters chosen for these free skins, particularly the selection of Kenshi over more prominent franchise figures, others have raised concerns about the overall handling of skins in Mortal Kombat 1. A frequent criticism is that the majority of the game’s free skins are being offered to male characters. It’s challenging to please everyone, especially with a franchise as established as Mortal Kombat. Nevertheless, it’s encouraging to note that the developers seem to be taking fan feedback into account and providing skins for free.

It’s yet to be determined which skins will be introduced to the game later on, but Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon hinted at a potential return for Scorpion’s design from “Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe” through a tweet. When asked about this possibility by a fan, Boon replied with “that ain’t a bad idea” and a lightbulb emoji. Although this doesn’t guarantee that the design from that game will come back, it seems that Boon is seriously contemplating the idea. Scorpion received a free skin on July 26th with the ’95 movie skin, but there could be another one in store for him soon!
