Mortal Kombat 1 Sets Conan the Barbarian Release Date in First Gameplay Video

As a seasoned gamer with decades under my belt, I must say that the addition of Conan the Barbarian to Mortal Kombat 1 is nothing short of epic! Ever since I first swung his sword as a young lad, I’ve been waiting for this day. The thought of seeing him go toe-to-toe with the likes of Shao Kahn and Scorpion has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning.

In a recent announcement, it’s been confirmed that Conan the Barbarian, a famous hero, will join the roster of Mortal Kombat 1 as a guest fighter on January 21, 2025. Warner Bros. and NetherRealm made this reveal this week. The first teaser trailer for Conan the Barbarian, shared by Mortal Kombat’s boss Ed Boon, depicts him in combat with Shao Kahn. Conan is the second of three guest fighters to be introduced in Mortal Kombat 1 as part of the Khaos Reigns DLC expansion. Ghostface was the first, and only T-1000 remains to be added.

As a gaming enthusiast, I just got a sneak peek at Conan the Barbarian in Mortal Kombat 1, thanks to Boon’s tweet earlier today. The brief clip showed Conan squaring off against Shao Kahn, but we didn’t get to witness his Fatality yet – that’s typical for these Mortal Kombat DLC teasers. With the trailer out now, I’m hoping for a longer gameplay video soon, so we can see more of Conan’s moves and maybe even catch a glimpse of one of his Fatalities at the end. Later on, there’ll be a detailed analysis of Conan’s fighting style streamed on Twitch before his release in January.

From the footage, it seems Conan the Barbarian primarily uses his sword in battles, leaving us uncertain about any special skills he might have to counter supernatural abilities. As for who’s speaking as Conan the Barbarian, it’s currently undecided; Arnold Schwarzenegger is a strong possibility due to the resemblance and similar voice, but no official confirmation has been made yet in the initial announcement of the guest fighter trio for Khaos Reigns. We’ll provide an update once we receive confirmation about whether it’s indeed Schwarzenegger providing the voice for Conan the Barbarian.

For characters like Conan the Barbarian, who are introduced as DLC, the January 21st release date is applicable only to players who already own the Khaos Reigns expansion and play using early access. Characters such as Ghostface, also part of the Khaos Reigns collection, are included for those who purchased the expansion. However, it’s possible to buy each character individually for approximately $8 once the early access period concludes.

The character Conan the Barbarian from Mortal Kombat 1 will be available as early access DLC starting January 21st, after which he can be purchased. Following this, the T-1000 character from Terminator 2: Judgment Day will be added to complete the DLC series called “Khaos Reigns”. However, it’s important to note that although there have been rumors suggesting no more DLC for Mortal Kombat 1 after the release of Khaos Reigns fighters, neither NetherRealm nor Warner Bros. have officially confirmed this.
