As a long-time Mortal Kombat enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of this iconic franchise since its humble beginnings, I must say that Ed Boon’s latest sneak peek into the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie has truly sent a wave of excitement rippling through the community. While we were all hoping for a trailer at San Diego Comic-Con, this glimpse of Kitana is more than enough to whet our appetite and keep us on the edge of our seats until the film’s release next year.
As a die-hard Mortal Kombat fan, I was all geared up for the latest trailer drop at San Diego Comic-Con last week, hoping to catch a glimpse of the 2025 movie. But alas, no new trailer graced our screens. With my excitement on edge, I found myself pondering when we might finally get a sneak peek of the film. Luckily for us fans, Ed Boon, the director and co-creator, decided to quell our curiosity and shared an exclusive first look at Kitana from the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie adaptation.
On his private platform (previously Twitter), Boon posted that he had recently taken a picture of Mortal Kombat 2 from Todd Garner’s phone. The image features a brief look at Kitana, a popular character from the Mortal Kombat video game series, who will appear in the new Mortal Kombat film franchise with MK2. Boon playfully hinted that he too could leak information, alluding to the frequent leaks associated with the Mortal Kombat games throughout the years.
“Recently, I watched an incomplete version of the ‘Mortal Kombat 2’ movie. While viewing, I managed to access Todd Garner’s phone, retrieved an image from the film, and saved it on mine. I have the ability to share sensitive information as well.”
As a longtime fan of the Mortal Kombat franchise, I was beyond excited to attend the exclusive screening of the much-anticipated Mortal Kombat 2 movie. The opportunity to catch a sneak peek at the unfinished cut of the film was a dream come true for this arcade warrior!

I’m super excited about diving back into the world of Mortal Kombat with the upcoming sequel! Just like last time, fan favorites Sonya Blade, Kano, Kung Lao, and Liu Kang are set to reappear. But here’s where it gets really interesting – we’ve got some fresh faces joining the fray! Jade (Tati Gabrielle), Johnny Cage (Karl Urban), Shao Kahn (Martyn Ford), and Quan Chi (Damon Herriman) are all set to make their mark. And if that wasn’t enough, Adeline Rudolph will be stepping into the role of Kitana, a character I can’t wait to see play a pivotal role in the storyline. Can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
As a passionate gamer eagerly anticipating the next chapter of Mortal Kombat, I can confidently say that Mortal Kombat 2 is set to storm theaters on October 24, 2025. Unfortunately, with the movie’s release being over a year off, it looks like we’ll have to wait a while for our first official trailer. Rest assured, as soon as any fresh updates about Mortal Kombat 2 hit the airwaves, I’ll be here to bring you the latest scoop right here on ComicBook!
