As a long-time enthusiast of all things entertainment and a connoisseur of the streaming world, I must say that this list is quite the rollercoaster ride! It seems like every day brings a new show or series to our screens, and just as quickly, it’s taken away.
It looks like a beloved show has come to a dead end.
As a connoisseur of the lifestyle realm, I must share some sad news: the beloved automotive show “RoadKill,” which captivated audiences on YouTube and later found a home on Discovery+, has come to an end after season 13. This update comes directly from our esteemed cohost, Mike Finnegan.
Mike announced on November 18th through a Reddit post that the production of RK, after wrapping up Season 13 a few weeks prior, will not produce any more episodes.
The television host announced that the automobile program’s manufacturer, initially launched in 2012, is now winding down operations as well.
Mike went on to say, “Motor Trend Productions is closing, but they didn’t provide a reason behind this shutdown.
After acknowledging that the show had a successful and long-lasting run, the 46-year-old actor (who played alongside David Freiburger) stated, “I feel a sense of pride for what our team achieved, but it appears that RK has come to an end. I’m curious about who holds the rights to the RK intellectual property and who I might inquire with regarding its termination.
TopMob News reached out to a rep for MotorTrend for comment but has not heard back.
For Mike, who was previously an editor at Hot Rod Magazine and now hosts Finnegan’s Garage on YouTube, Roadkill‘s popularity seemingly occurred by chance. This happened when he and his Hot Rod colleague David decided to record their joint road trip.
Mike mentioned during an interview on the “The Muscle Car Place” podcast in 2017, that our video was uploaded to YouTube on the “Hot Rod Magazine” channel. At that time, there were some fantastic videos available, including those before “Roadkill,” and it just so happened that around that period, our company had secured a deal with YouTube to create a channel.
When the video quickly took off, the platform wanted more content from the duo.
Mike remembered being told, “‘Alright, team, you’ve got a show to prepare now. So, come up with a title for it right away, and make sure to do this monthly,'” he said. “In essence, we were winging it. We seized any two or three days we could spare from our magazine commitments and embarked on an impromptu road trip.
He added, “It was utterly insane.”
