Mr. McMahon: Netflix Debuts First Trailer For Vince McMahon Docuseries

As a gamer with a keen interest in wrestling and its behind-the-scenes drama, I can’t help but be intrigued by Netflix’s upcoming docuseries, Mr. McMahon. With my fingers crossed and eyes wide open, I eagerly await this six-episode journey into the life of the man who revolutionized professional wrestling.

At last, Netflix’s documentary about Vince McMahon, the veteran wrestling promoter, is set for release. For years, Netflix has been working on this project, delving into McMahon’s life and career, but things changed dramatically when he was embroiled in a hush money scandal during Summer 2022. Over the subsequent two years, McMahon’s story became increasingly intricate: he stepped down from WWE, re-joined the Board of Directors, sold the company to Endeavor, regained control, lost it again, resigned following a new lawsuit alleging sex trafficking, and eventually divested all his shares, thus severing any remaining ties with what essentially is his family’s business

It was announced earlier this summer that the documentary, initially referred to as such, will indeed proceed. Titled “Mr. McMahon,” details about its production revealed it will span across six captivating episodes

Netflix has unveiled the initial teaser for the upcoming documentary series titled Mr. McMahon, which delves into the personal life and professional journey of the former chairman of World Wrestling Entertainment

In the opening, McMahon explains, “People see me as a villain, but the truth is, nobody truly understands who I am.”

The trailer opens with Vince McMahon speaking about himself while quick flashes of newspaper headlines tease the controversies that the former WWE owner would go on to get himself entangled in, including the steroid trial and his sexual harassment lawsuit, popped up on screen. McMahon stressed that his motive when taking over the World Wrestling Federation from his father was to make it mainstream. The final footage indicates that the docuseries will cover the hush money scandal from 2022 but does not indicate whether it will touch on the current sex trafficking accusations.

The trailer showcases interviews with various personalities including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hulk Hogan, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Bruce Prichard, Eric Bischoff, Jimmy Hart, Bret Hart, John Cena, and Triple H

The docuseries will debut on Netflix in three months, coinciding with Netflix’s plans to heavily feature WWE content, starting from January 2025 when “WWE Monday Night Raw” moves to Netflix. It’s worth noting that Vince McMahon’s ongoing lawsuit with Janel Grant, a former WWE employee who has accused him of sex trafficking and sexual abuse, is not expected to affect Netflix’s partnership with the WWE. Grant’s lawsuit is at present on hold due to an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice

Mr. McMahon premieres on Netflix on September 25th.
