As a researcher delving into the realm of gaming devices, I’m thrilled to share the unveiling of MSI’s unique Polar Tempest Edition for their high-performance MSI Claw 8 AI+ PC handheld gaming unit. Having had the privilege to pen a review on this remarkable device, I can confidently vouch for its exceptional gaming prowess that surpasses both the ASUS ROG Ally and Lenovo Legion Go in terms of performance.
It appears that the primary distinctions between this version and the standard one lie in two aspects: firstly, its color scheme is switched to a combination of white and black, instead of the traditional Sandstorm hue; secondly, it comes with a larger 2Terabyte (2TB) NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive (SSD).
I prefer the white-and-black design over the Sandstorm option significantly, but the issue is that the standard MSI Claw 8 AI+ is already difficult to obtain. Consequently, it seems extremely challenging to find the Polar Tempest Edition as well.
As hard as finding a polar bear in a snow storm
It’s clear that MSI has not disclosed the exact price of the Polar Tempest Edition, but considering it will be available in the US, it’s safe to assume that its cost will exceed $1,000.
To monitor whether the prices of gaming handhelds in the U.S. increase beyond their original Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price due to the ongoing tariff situation, I have been paying close attention.
As a devoted admirer, I must express my disappointment in finding out that the MSI Claw 8 AI+, a device I was keenly interested in, has experienced a price hike of $100. Initially listed at an MSRP of $899.99, it’s now retailing for a surprising $999.99 at Best Buy.
From my research perspective, I can confidently say that the upgraded MSI Claw 8 AI+ with a larger 2TB SSD would typically retail for an amount higher than $999.99 within the United States market.
However, affordability isn’t the primary obstacle preventing people from obtaining the MSI Claw 8 AI+ Polar Tempest Edition. Instead, it’s likely to be supply shortages that hinder its accessibility.
Despite my enthusiasm for the MSI Claw 8 AI+’s impressive performance, its release was quite disorganized.

Initially introduced in the United States on January 15, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ has been made available, however, a number of U.S retailers have only received a limited quantity, with some receiving none at all. Some stores continue to label it as “Yet to be Released.
In essence, this device has been quite elusive for most people, and it seems acquiring the exclusive Polar Tempest Edition might prove even more challenging.
