MTV VMAs: Proof There’s No Bad Blood Between Taylor Swift & Katy Perry

As a dedicated Taylor Swift fan with countless hours spent analyzing her songs and performances, I have to say that attending the 2024 MTV VMAs was like stepping into a dream world. Watching Taylor lean in as Post Malone whispered in her ear felt like eavesdropping on a secret conversation between two best friends. Seeing her dance along to Katy Perry’s medley of hits with Suki Waterhouse was like being part of an exclusive club that only true Swifties could join.

When Taylor Swift attends a performance and chooses to dance, it’s guaranteed that everyone will be looking at her.

At the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, she was enjoying herself as usual. When it came time to honor Katy Perry with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, everyone eagerly waited to see if this moment would join the archive of emotional events. The “Bad Blood” singer was the center of attention.

However, Taylor openly displayed deep affection towards Katy, demonstrating that their past issues were long resolved, as evidenced by his enthusiastic standing ovation for the “Firework” performer at the 2024 MTV VMAs. (Find the complete list of winners at the event.)

Katy attending the concert in February didn’t come as a surprise, and she posted about seeing her old friend perform brilliantly tonight.)

2019 saw Taylor expressing on Capital Breakfast that she and someone else had been enjoying a positive relationship for some time. They reconnected at a gathering, where they exchanged hugs, reminisced, and mended their friendship. Later, they met again at another event and the atmosphere felt more relaxed, as if a significant weight had been lifted from Taylor’s life when their relationship improved.

Though that revelation in itself confirmed that there were things to talk about.

Just like Taylor Swift has never explicitly identified any of the individuals believed to be the subjects of her many love songs, she has also not directly named Katy Perry as a person she was involved in a public dispute with.

However, prior to the release of 1989 in 2014, she commented on another woman with whom she had long been uncertain about their friendship status.

Later on, Taylor explained to Rolling Stone that the woman had done something truly abhorrent. Consequently, they became unequivocally adversaries.

Taylor clarified, “It had nothing to do with a man! It was all about business. Essentially, she was trying to undermine an entire stadium tour.

Katy infamously tweeted not long after, “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”

When Taylor Swift’s “Bad Blood” music video debuted, featuring what appeared to be all her past squad members, along with some unexpected additions, yet excluding Katy Perry, it essentially solidified their long-standing feud as a widely accepted truth.

(And, incidentally, it won Video of the Year at the 2015 VMAs.)

But that was nine years ago, and they’ve long since returned to mutual admiration society status.

See all the pics of Taylor living her best life in the audience at the 2024 MTV VMAs:

At the award ceremony, Taylor Swift leant closer while Post Malone, who had just won the Best Collaboration award with her, shared a secret by whispering into her ear.

At the end of Karol G’s epic performance, Taylor gave the “QLONA” singer a giant hug.

The “Fortnight” singer wore a wide grin as she enjoyed the show from her seat.

Taylor Swift and her companion, Suki Waterhouse, boogied rhythmically as Katy Perry crooned a blend of her popular tunes at the award ceremony.

As an over-the-moon admirer, I couldn’t help but erupt in a resounding standing ovation after witnessing Katy’s mesmerizing performance. The joy on her face, as wide as the stage itself, was simply radiant.

Taylor kept her distinctive red lipstick flawlessly intact as she took a sip from her chilled cocktail, seated comfortably among the spectators.
