Instead of making a strong impact, Mufasa faced stiff competition from Sonic 3, causing a significant loss with approximately $35 million compared to Sonic 3’s impressive $62 million haul. Given a production budget of $200 million, the movie initially looked in dire straits. However, as the holidays unfold, it seems that Mufasa has some staying power and may potentially recover well.
