As a movie lover with decades of cinematic experiences under my belt, I must say, I am beyond excited about the upcoming prequel to The Lion King, titled Mufasa. Growing up, I remember the original 1994 animated film and its heartwarming tale of Simba’s journey. But this new take on Mufasa, following a young and lost cub, has truly caught my attention.
1994 marked the release of Disney’s animated masterpiece, The Lion King, which turned out to be the studio’s most profitable film with earnings amounting to $981 million. However, in 2019, a live-action adaptation featuring lifelike animals surpassed this record by earning an impressive $1.6 billion. Now, we have a sequel that doubles as a prequel, titled Mufasa’s Story or something similar. This new film tells the tale of Mufasa, a young cub who becomes lost and finds solace with a compassionate lion named Taka, the heir to a royal lineage. Their encounter initiates an extensive adventure for a band of outcasts, each on their quest to discover their purpose. Check out our review HERE
At the U.K. premiere in London, I found myself mingling with Aaron Pierre, Mads Mikkelsen, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner on the Mufasa red carpet. We reminisced about our personal recollections of the original film and shared insights into our roles in the upcoming prequel.
Check out the exclusive red carpet interviews featuring Aaron Pierre, Mads Mikkelsen, Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner (Mufasa’s team)…
