Multiplayer open-world sandbox game Longvinter now available for PC, coming to PlayStation in 2026

The game titled “Longvinter,” reminiscent of the popular “Animal Crossing” series, has exited Early Access and can now be played on PC via Steam. As announced by the developers, Uuuvana Studios, a PlayStation version featuring cross-play compatibility is set to release in 2026.

Longvinter first launched in Early Access on February 24, 2022.

Here is what is new in the version 1.0 update:

1.0 Update Main Features

In the 1.0 update, our aim was to substantially alter the gaming experience for those who’ve played during Early Access. To achieve this, we incorporated fresh Points of Interest – Oil Rigs, which are massive structures featuring considerable verticality. Designing these within our top-down game approach proved to be quite a challenge. As it’s our 1.0 update, we aimed to enhance every facet of the game, and we’re thrilled with how it turned out. This update includes nearly 100 new items, each with unique mechanics. Let’s delve into the most significant change – Oil Reworks.

Oil Rigs

Currently, when you drop by Sgt. Lake, you might find that gas prices have experienced a substantial hike since your previous visit. This is due to the LRI establishing oil rigs in the Longvinter archipelago, which has given them control over prices everywhere. To combat this situation, it’s essential for you to take charge and secure your own fuel supply, even as you face attacks from LRI mercenaries. The new locations offer an exhilarating experience for both PVP and PVE players, and we can’t wait to hear which aspects of them you enjoy the most!

In an exciting development, Crude Oil has been introduced as a brand-new item that must be refined before it can be converted into fuel. Moreover, we’ve introduced a new upgrade path for mining rigs—rather than just crushing rocks, you can now extract oil yourself and utilize refineries to contribute your own product to the economy.

Heli Crash and Underground Arena

To maintain an exciting flow of fresh content, we’ve just introduced a helicopter crash site on the map. This event gives you a chance to obtain new strategic equipment that LRI might use to track and ambush you. Additionally, a new battleground is now available, inviting all players every hour for a survival fight until only one remains. The ultimate survivor can claim top-tier loot located near Sgt. Lake’s base camp.

New Animals and Mounts

On Longvinter Island, we’ve expanded the diversity of our wildlife with the arrival of Lynx, Wolf, Wolverine, Fox, Moose, and Goats. Not only can these new creatures be found roaming around, but they are also available as rideable mounts! To give you more customization options, we’ve ensured that the saddles cannot be equipped, allowing you to personalize your mount’s appearance according to your preference.

Wildlife Improvements and Map Additions

Small, lively birds have now been incorporated across the entire map, enlivening the island with their humorous appearances and elusive nature as they dart away whenever you attempt to capture them. To enhance the experience for newcomers, we’ve also introduced additional roadways that facilitate travel between initial settlements. The merchant catalogues have seen an upgrade with numerous new items, and we’ve made various visual improvements along with adding more animations to create a world that feels more vibrant and engaging.

New Equipment & Items

We’ve added several new equipment options to enhance your gameplay:

  • Four new buff hats:
    • Permanent movement speed
    • Better item prices
    • Cheaper travel costs
    • Chance for double loot
  • Combat vests with special abilities:

New Placeable Health System

We’ve decided to pay closer attention to the durability aspect of placeables as it wasn’t given much focus before. Now, we’re thrilled about the new features we’ve introduced. When you glance at a placeable in your inventory or when it’s on the ground, you can check its health status. Each newly placed item begins with 31 points of health and gradually recovers over time. However, if a placeable sustains damage, its healing process will halt. If a placeable has been damaged recently, it becomes immovable, and if destroyed while not at full strength, it won’t drop any items. These modifications will make using standard fences in combat less appealing and promote the use of sandbags designed for combat scenarios instead.
