MultiVersus Developer Acquired by WB Games

As a dedicated fan of MultiVersus, I couldn’t be more thrilled about the recent news that Warner Bros. Games has acquired Player First Games, the brilliant minds behind this fantastic free-to-play platform fighter. The team at Player First Games, led by co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White, have consistently delivered an exceptional gaming experience, and I’m confident that being part of the Warner Bros. family will only elevate MultiVersus to new heights.

WB Games, the publisher of the popular free-player platform fighter MultiVersus developed by Player First Games, has recently taken over the company. This information was made public through a press release issued by WB Games and obtained by Variety.

In 2019, Player First Games was founded in Los Angeles by Tony Huynh, the studio head, and Chris White, the head of technology, as co-founders. After being acquired, they will continue to lead the studio, but now they will answer to Carlos Barbosa, who holds the position of vice president and studio head at Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

“Huynh expressed our team’s enthusiasm about becoming part of the Warner Bros. Games community. We believe this collaboration will significantly benefit ‘MultiVersus’. Our primary goal is to deliver an exceptional gaming experience, and being closely connected with the publisher enables us to optimally cater to players.”

“For several years, we’ve collaborated with Player First Games on the production and release of MultiVersus. We’re thrilled to have them join Warner Bros. Games now, bringing their exceptional talent to our team,” expressed David Haddad, president of WB Games. “The innovative and creative minds at Player First Games further strengthen our development capabilities.”

In 2022, MultiVersus began its extended testing phase, known as beta. More recently, it officially released in its complete form this year, boasting a new engine and significantly improved gameplay. For a comprehensive take on the game, check out our review right here.

Starting on July 23rd, the list of characters you can choose from in MultiVersus will include Samurai Jack. Beetlejuice is set to join later.

MultiVersus is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
