It is with a heavy heart that we inform you of the Multiversus Final Update.
The Warner Bros. platform fighter is shutting down come this May.
But why is it shutting it down, and what was up with Doc?
Multiversus Final Update
Initially, here’s a quick summary: The final update for Multiversus will be released in May 2025. However, prior to that, we have some major updates coming with the changes in Season 5.
We’re bringing back the original game speeds as experienced during the beta phase! Additionally, you can expect fresh costumes and characters such as Aquaman and the renowned Lola Bunny to join the roster!
You and I both know what she is known for; come on, there is no denying it!
Indeed, it’s not a joke or performance; the Multiversus Final Update is scheduled for release later in the year. This unexpected news has caught everyone off guard, from experienced players to casual fans, and it’s particularly surprising for those who purchased the season pass.
But for those who were present from the start, it wasn’t entirely unexpected. In fact, I was part of the Beta phase myself.
What a fantastic journey it’s been! Thanks for your unwavering support. For further information, feel free to check out our blog post and FAQ page.

Learning that this might be the final update for Multiversus is still disappointing. When it initially launched, it was an exciting hit that managed to convert several of my friends who weren’t typically interested in fighting games into dedicated, ranked players, often dominating with Finn.

It seems that this game, regardless of personal preference, holds and continues to hold immense potential due to its intellectual properties. However, it’s puzzling as to why a final update for Multiversus appears to be on the horizon.
Essentially, what I’m trying to convey is that Warner Bros. made a significant mistake in their handling of the game. Many people would agree that the game itself was well-made, but the company’s management has been described as chaotic and difficult to navigate by some fans.
Also remember that the excitement surrounding this game was enormous, reaching unprecedented levels before the beta launch. In fact, introducing a character like Walter White as a fighter might just rescue it from any potential issues.
Multiversus Eulogy
However, my dear child, remember that having popular intellectual properties and enjoyable gameplay isn’t enough to keep a fighting game thriving. For instance, when the beta version launched in 2022, it continued until 2023 without many significant updates, which likely didn’t hold players’ interest for long.

Initially, they offered you full-price season passes without much communication during or following the beta period. However, once they declared that the iconic character, the Prodigal Bunny, would make a comeback, their silence was broken.
Despite returning home with conspicuous fleas and diseases, necessitating the Multiversus Final Update, one of which is subpar gameplay that surpasses its Beta stage. Intriguingly, they rebuilt the game engine completely, but cranked the game speed factor to a minimum. Imagine transitioning from SF Turbo to standard Street Fighter.
Currently, the most significant issue with the Multiversus Final Update appears to be the restriction of all characters. By “locking,” I’m referring to confining them behind predatory paywalls and grindwalls that require an extensive amount of time – around 70 hours or more – to unlock a single character. This design also prevents players from selecting any fighter during practice sessions or offline play.

In simpler terms, fans who love Rick and Morty in a laid-back manner couldn’t choose their preferred character to play. Additionally, there were malfunctioning characters, incorrect hit zones (hitboxes), and no competitive drive provided by Warner Bros.
These developments have brought us to the current state of the Multiversus Final Update, but surprisingly, they appear to have exacerbated things by addressing many of the major problems!
They adjusted the speed, collisions (hitboxes), and introduced additional characters before discontinuing it. Despite the impending closure, devoted followers are putting in considerable effort to salvage the Multiverse’s Last Update.
However, I’m concerned that the situation is irreversible, much like a terminal illness, and it’s often referred to as Warner Bros.’ management style. The last remaining hope seems to be in fan-created initiatives such as Project M or perhaps even bringing back Walter White from the storyline.
