As a lifelong fan of Cartoon Network and The Powerpuff Girls, I can hardly contain my excitement for MultiVersus Season 3! Growing up with Bubbles, Blossom, and Buttercup, their return to the limelight feels like a nostalgic dream come true. And having the original voice actors back brings an authenticity that truly transports me to the good ol’ days of Saturday morning cartoons.
Starting from Tuesday, September 17th, a fresh chapter in the world of MultiVersus unfolds, with the delightful theme of “Sugar, Spice, and Everything Nice”. This timeframe holds special significance for enthusiasts of The Powerpuff Girls, as these are the components that brought their beloved trio to life on Cartoon Network. In the upcoming update, they will join the roster of playable characters. Representing the united front of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup, this fighter embodies the essence of the game’s assassin class. A sneak peek at the Powerpuff Girls’ costumes has been unveiled: one design features Dynamo Suits for the sisters, while another transforms them into the Rowdyruff Boys!
The first trailer for MultiVersus Season 3 can be found below.
Player First Games has brought back the original voice actors from the Powerpuff Girls series to reprise their roles in the upcoming game. Although WB Games hasn’t officially confirmed this, Tara Strong (who played Bubbles) recently shared a trailer on Twitter, tagging Cathy Cavadini (Blossom) and E.G. Daily (Buttercup), hinting at their return with the message “we’re back.” The trailer pays homage to the show’s Cartoon Network history by having the girls interact with Samurai Jack and reminiscing about their past collaborations for ads. Additionally, a new map inspired by Townsville from the original game will be added later in the season, depicting a devastated version of the location.
In the later stages of the game, the character Nubia from DC Comics is expected to join MultiVersus. First introduced in Wonder Woman comics back in 1973, Nubia has been around for nearly half a century. Recently, her character has undergone significant development and it’s anticipated that she will win over many new fans through MultiVersus. Additionally, this season is set to introduce a new map, the Midnight Showing, which takes inspiration from the Gremlins movie. At present, specific details about both Nubia and the Midnight Showing are scarce. However, we can expect to learn more about them in the coming days!
