Update [Fri 31st Jan 2025, 2:30pm]:
According to the recent chatter, Player First Games has officially announced that Season 5 will mark the end of new content releases for MultiVersus.
Apart from ending with Season 5, it’s also important to note that after its conclusion, the game will no longer be available for online play, and it will also be taken down from all digital marketplaces.
In a twist that’s been widely anticipated, Season 5 commences on February 4th and concludes on May 30th. Two fresh characters, the much-discussed Aquaman and Lola Bunny, join our playable lineup during this season. All content introduced in Season 5 can be acquired through gameplay.
MultiVersus will stay active online until the season concludes on May 30th. After that date, the game can only be played offline. If you wish to carry on playing without an internet connection, make sure to log in during Season 5. During this time, your local save data will be created, ensuring that your progress is preserved.
Starting from the 30th of May, it will no longer be possible to download MultiVersus from the PlayStation Store or any other digital marketplaces.
Effective from today, 31st January, the developer has verified that real-money microtransactions have been deactivated. Players can utilize any leftover Gleamium or character tokens until the conclusion of Season 5, however, they will no longer be able to make additional purchases.
In a heartfelt nod, I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every player and supporter who’ve ever been part of the MultiVersus community – past, present, and future! Your passion and dedication have truly made this gaming experience extraordinary.
Everyone from the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games squad has put a lot of passion and dedication into creating this game. We’ll always appreciate the amazing backing we’ve received from the MultiVersus community during our development process.
It’s truly unfortunate to witness another multiplayer game meet its demise, especially considering the declining number of players. The signs were clear, almost as if a warning had been posted.

There are some concerning rumors circulating on the internet regarding Warner Bros. Games’ free-to-play fighting game, MultiVersus, and these whispers don’t seem promising.
According to a well-known source who often shares insider info, the upcoming Season 5 could potentially be the last one, contingent upon its success.
They assert that they received information about Season 5 being a significant, potentially final attempt for MultiVersus from a reputable individual.
In February, we can expect the seasonal update for MultiVersus, bringing fresh additions like new fighters, battlefields, and cosmetic items to revitalize the game. At this point, the identities of the upcoming playable characters remain uncertain, but there’s buzz about Aquaman and Lola Bunny potentially joining the roster.
Initially, MultiVersus underwent an extended beta phase where it garnered maximum attention. Following this, after making necessary improvements during its offline development stage for a formal release, the game launched in May 2024. Since then, it’s been facing challenges in maintaining its initial player base.
According to Warner Bros., the game is currently experiencing poor sales performance, and at this moment in time, only 336 people are actively playing it on Steam.
As a dedicated gamer, I must admit that it wouldn’t shock me if Warner Bros. Games began phasing out their support for MultiVersus. If these whispers are accurate, Season 5 could be our last chance to keep this game alive and kicking. Here’s keeping my fingers crossed for some fresh content that rejuvenates the gaming experience!
