Murray Gold Teases Epic New Doctor Who Soundtrack Release Coming Soon!

Fans of Murray Gold‘s enchanting Doctor Who soundtracks are in for good news, as it seems that the long-awaited release of his latest compositions from the BBC science fiction show may be just around the corner.

Gold functioned as a composer on ‘Doctor Who’ from seasons 1 to 10, which spanned from 2005 to 2017. Nine out of these ten series had their soundtracks officially released for sale.

Segun Akinola, taking over from Gold between 2018-2022, additionally had his music published on Compact Discs (CDs) and digitally as well.

Despite no formal announcement yet, we’re yet to hear about the release of Gold’s score for Series 10 of his music – not even news on the launch of any of his more recent compositions. Interestingly, Gold resumed his work for Doctor Who in 2023, contributing to the music for the special episodes marking the 60th anniversary and the following seasons in 2024 and 2025.

As a devoted cinephile, I’m buzzing with anticipation! It seems like the wait might finally be over as Gold hinted at an upcoming release during a recent gathering at the BFI Southbank, teaming up with the Doctor Who Appreciation Society. The future is looking bright for us fans!

He mentioned that the unpublished music from Series 10 (2017), the 60th specials, and Seasons 1 and 2 (2023-2025) is piling up.

Initially, the goal was straightforward, but due to an overwhelming increase in the volume of music that needs handling, it’s become a bit more complex. This escalation might be attributable to me.

He continued: “The plan is to get it all out, in one big music dump. It’s coming. It is coming.”

In simpler terms, the most recent season of Doctor Who concluded on May 31st, marking the exit of Ncuti Gatwa from his position as the Fifteenth Doctor. This was due to the character experiencing another transformation, known as regeneration.

Doctor Who is available to watch on BBC iPlayer and Disney+ outside of the UK.
