To mark the release of My Hero Academia Volume 42 in Japan, Marvel paid tribute on social media by unveiling an impressive artistic collaboration between Kohei Horikoshi, creator of My Hero Academia, and skilled Marvel artists Humberto Ramos (responsible for the sketches and artwork) and Edgar Delgado (contributing the colors). The resulting pieces depict Spider-Man and Black Cat venturing into the realm of My Hero Academia, leading to distinct outcomes for each character. Take a look at the intriguing Marvel-My Hero Academia crossover art below.
My Hero Academia’s Creator Is a Big Fan of Spider-Man
It’s truly an exciting turn of events, given that the creator of the “My Hero Academia” series, Kohei Horikoshi, has openly expressed his admiration for Spider-Man. Not only do certain heroes and characters bear resemblance to those within the Spider-Man universe, but numerous panels and moments are clear homages to some of Spider-Man’s most iconic scenes. By the end of the series, Deku’s use of Blackwhip mirrors Peter Parker’s web-slinging, and he even possesses a similar ability with his “Danger Sense” quirk, which can be seen as a spin on Spider-Man’s well-known spidey-sense.
Characters from the universe of “My Hero Academia” have even collaborated on unique projects set within the Spider-Man Universe. The creative minds behind the spinoff series “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” were instrumental in creating “Spider-Man: Octo-Girl,” a special manga that envisions a scenario where Dr. Octopus is transported into a Japanese girl’s body. In this way, there has been a connection between “My Hero Academia” and Spider-Man for quite some time, and now, with the culmination of their collaborative efforts, they have united in a full-fledged crossover storyline.
My Hero Academia Went Out With a Bang
As “My Hero Academia” prepares for its grand farewell, it’s doing so with quite a dramatic send-off as the year draws to a close. The original manga run by Horikoshi concluded back in the summer, but the final volume was packed with additional content. Over 30 extra pages were added to the last book, which not only expanded on some of the events depicted in the final chapters, but also included a brand new chapter that continued beyond the original series timeline. Essentially, Horikoshi penned an entire new epilogue to provide more depth to the ending.
The last volume of “My Hero Academia” was simultaneously unveiled along with the outcomes of a global popularity poll that gathered votes over several months, known as the World’s Best Hero poll. This poll allowed fans from around the world to cast their votes for their most loved character, and a winner has been declared. With the anime adaptation of “My Hero Academia” set to return for its final season next year, the excitement surrounding this grand finale is sure to persist.
