As a seasoned gamer and avid manga reader, I can confidently say that Kohei Horikoshi has hit the nail right on the head with his choice of favorite fight in Black Clover. The battle between Magna Swing and Dante Zogratis during the Spade Kingdom Raid arc is a masterpiece, embodying the very essence of what makes this series great.

The creator behind the popular series “My Hero Academia” has shared his favorite battle from another hit manga, “Black Clover”. This fight is among the best in the entire series. With “My Hero Academia” wrapping up this Summer and “Black Clover” nearing its end as well, both creators, Kohei Horikoshi and Yuki Tabata, are currently at a significant point in their careers. As they look forward to new projects and the future of Shonen Jump’s upcoming action series, they also take time to appreciate each other’s work.

Kohei Horikoshi and Yuki Tabata have been brought on board as judges for Shueisha’s exclusive Jump Next Generation Battle Manga Award, alongside Gege Akutami from “Jujutsu Kaisen” and Tite Kubo from “Bleach”. Their role will be to examine submissions from Japanese fans and recognize the creator they believe can pave the way for the future of the magazine. In preparation for this award, Shueisha asked each creator about memorable moments from one another’s series, and Kohei Horikoshi shared that his favorite battle in “Black Clover” took place between Magna Swing and Dante Zogratis during the Spade Kingdom Raid arc.

Why My Hero Academia’s Creator Loves Magna vs. Dante

Kohei Horikoshi, the creator of both Black Clover and My Hero Academia, shared that his favorite battle scene was between Magna and Dante Zogratis. He explained that this fight, taking place towards the climax of the story, is particularly intense as it’s a brutal encounter which culminates in a fistfight. This battle symbolizes the main theme of Black Clover, the rise of the common man, while also serving as an unexpected twist within the manga that feels satisfying. It’s a significant moment for Magna, as he manages to even the odds against Dante.

In the Black Clover manga’s Spade Kingdom Raid arc (not yet adapted in the TV show), Magna and Zora join forces against Dante Zogratis. To compensate for their difference in magical prowess, Magna learns a fresh spell called “Soul Chain Death Match.” This spell binds them together, distributing their magic power equally. Consequently, their battle with Dante culminates in a close-quartered fistfight, making it one of the most distinctive fights in the series so far.

Why This Black Clover Fight Is Special

In this crucial win, Magna found validation as he had been struggling to keep pace with Asta and Luck who seemed to be rapidly increasing in power. This extraordinary spell was entirely his creation, making it a unique accomplishment since even Asta couldn’t have managed such a feat. While Asta has made significant strides through sheer determination, he hasn’t yet defeated an enemy solely using his fists. This is something no other character has even approached.

According to Horikoshi, this battle embodies what makes Black Clover such a fantastic series. It demonstrates that even the least expected can defeat someone who considers themselves superior, which is something Asta and the Black Bulls have consistently shown since they began their journey together many years ago. This battle has yet to be animated, but it’s undoubtedly one of the key reasons why Black Clover should return at some point in the future to animate the final arcs of Yuki Tabata’s manga.
