My Hero Academia Creator Reveals the Origin of Ochaco’s Iconic Speech

As a long-time fan of manga and anime, I have been following My Hero Academia since its early days. The series has captured my heart with its unique take on the superhero genre, and I have grown to love the characters and their journeys. The recent news that the manga is coming to an end has left me feeling a bit nostalgic and sentimental.

The manga “My Hero Academia” has been published for around 10 years now, and soon it will reach its conclusion. The final battle is over, and the story is approaching its last few installments through the epilogue. With the finale on the horizon, creator Kohei Horikoshi is garnering attention as he prepares to end his successful series. In a recent interview, the artist of “My Hero Academia” shared an intriguing revelation about Ochaco’s iconic scene.

As a dedicated fan of manga and anime, I’ve been eagerly anticipating every new development in the My Hero Academia series. And let me tell you, the latest scoop from Da Vinci Magazine has truly piqued my interest!

“Horikoshi shared that the scene of Ochaco cheering on Deku from the school rooftop was an idea he had since the beginning of the series but didn’t get a chance to use until now. Originally, it was intended for when Deku was feeling low after entering U.A. High School. On one particular day when he underperformed in class and felt out of place during after-school karaoke sessions with his classmates. Instead of joining in, Dekko remained in the corner, disengaged.”

Moving on, the creator of “My Hero Academia” described how Ochaco could have boosted Deku’s spirits using the karaoke hangout. “During Ochaco’s turn, she would sing ‘Fight’ by Miyuki Nakajima… I had planned to add a scene where Ochaco motivates Deku through song. At the time, I didn’t have enough resources to include this, but I still wanted to. Therefore, this concept became connected to the rooftop speech scene.”

Horikoshi wasn’t ready to miss out on this significant moment, and Ochaco was provided with an excellent opportunity to encourage Deku more in the storyline later on. Originally, Horikoshi intended for a light-hearted scene, but Ochaco’s inspiring speeches came at just the right instant. In truth, her supportive words not only boosted Deku but also ignited the entire student body of U.A. High School. Thus, one could argue that Horikoshi chose an ideal location for this scene.

If you’re behind on “My Hero Academia” and don’t want to miss the finale, you can easily catch up with its manga right away. You can find it on the Shonen Jump app or in print versions. For more details about the series, check out the official synopsis below:
