My Hero Academia Creator Shares Special Holiday Art Post-Finale

As a long-time enthusiast and connoisseur of all things “My Hero Academia”, I can wholeheartedly say that this holiday season has been nothing short of magical! The latest art from Kohei Horikoshi, featuring Santa Deku, Santa Bakugo, and Santa Mirko, has truly warmed the cockles of my heart. And let’s not forget the joyous Christmas episode from season 5 where even Scrooge-like Bakugo donned a Santa hat!

Although the final chapter of the “My Hero Academia” manga has been published, its creator Kohei Horikoshi hasn’t slowed down his passion for the superhero shonen series. Frequently, the mangaka shares fresh artwork featuring his heroes and villains. Even as the anime adaptation is nearing its end in 2024, significant announcements have been made at this year’s Jump Festa. In a festive touch, Horikoshi illustrated some of his prominent crime fighters embracing the holiday spirit. In this fresh artwork, Deku, Bakugo, and Mirko are taking over Santa Claus’ role this year by leaping across rooftops.

If you want to celebrate the holidays with Class 1-A outside of this original art, we have good news for you. In the fifth season of the series, “Have A Merry Christmas” sees UA Academy’s finest all throwing on their Santa gear to have a merry holiday before they take on the likes of Shigaraki and All For One in the upcoming wars. While most of the class is more than willing to throw on Santa gear to ring in the holiday season, Bakugo holds onto his usual attitude and decides to wear his usual attire. The installment made for a nice respite before returning ot the brutal battles that made the series a hit amongst anime fans.

Santa Deku, Santa Bakugo, And Santa Mirko

It’s widely believed that among all the characters created by mangaka Kohei Horikoshi, Deku, Bakugo, and Mirko are three of the most beloved ones. Although All Might is often associated with being the Symbol of Peace, it’s possible that Rabbit Hero Mirko has garnered an exceptionally fervent fanbase due to her unique personality and combat skills on the battlefield. It seems quite fitting, given their special abilities, to imagine these three taking over Santa Claus’ duties during Christmas. Interestingly, Horikoshi himself shared a special message for fans alongside this new artwork.

“Thank you for your support this year! Thank you very much! Merry Christmas!”

今年も一年お世話になりました!ありがとうございました!メリークリスマス!

The Vigilantes Are Coming

As fans bid farewell to the primary characters from the shonen universe in the upcoming eighth and final season of “My Hero Academia” next year, there’s more excitement on the horizon for this superhero tale. At this year’s Jump Festa, it was announced that Studio BONES will also be adapting the spin-off series, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” for television. Given the length of the original manga, there may be multiple seasons ahead featuring characters like Crawler, Pop Step, and Knuckleduster.

Besides focusing on heroes who work outside legal boundaries, Vigilantes delves into the early years of prominent crime fighters depicted in the series. The tales of characters such as Eraserhead, Present Mic, Midnight, Mirko, Fat Gum, All Might, and others form part of this spin-off, which promises to astonish many when it adapts to anime. Despite My Hero Academia’s manga having concluded, fans of UA Academy still have much to anticipate!
