My Hero Academia Reveals Deku's Heartbreaking Reaction to That Major Death

As a seasoned gamer who has seen his fair share of heart-wrenching moments in video games, I must say that the latest episode of My Hero Academia Season 7 took the emotional cake for me. The way Tomo Okubo directed the scene where Deku reacts to Bakugo’s death was nothing short of masterful; it felt like a gut punch right to the chest.

In the return of Season 7 for “My Hero Academia”, we witness Izuku Midoriya’s emotional response to what appears to be Katsuki Bakugo’s demise. The series has now initiated the climactic battle between Deku and Tomura Shigaraki, a significant step for our heroes, but one that comes at an inconvenient moment. With Himiko Toga whisking Deku away onto a distant battlefield, he’s been hurrying to reach the floating U.A. Academy battleground. However, while he’s making all-out speed, the heroes have been engaged in combat against Shigaraki instead.

Previously in My Hero Academia, Bakugo and his comrades fought valiantly to keep Shigaraki at bay until Deku could arrive. However, it turned out to be a tougher task than expected as Shigaraki’s physical strength proved formidable. In desperation, Bakugo enhanced his quirk to an unprecedented level of power, but even that wasn’t sufficient enough to withstand the villain’s attack. When Deku finally reached the battlefield and witnessed the devastation, he momentarily lost control upon seeing what had happened to Bakugo.

Tomo Kubo has consistently excelled as a top episode director for Heroaca, particularly when it comes to more emotional scenes. This week, one such moment really grabbed my attention – the intense silence that falls over the scene as Deku witnesses Bakugo lying lifeless in the dirt, followed by his subsequent hyperventilation, which carries an impactful punch, much like a truck’s force.

My Hero Academia: Deku Reacts to Bakugo’s Death

In Season 7 Episode 13 of My Hero Academia, Deku arrives on the battlefield following a significant blow against Shigaraki. He surveys his surroundings, only to find heroes lying defeated and Bakugo severely injured with a large chest wound. The sight momentarily stuns Deku, causing him both emotional paralysis and an uncontrolled release of his One For All power due to his intense anger. It’s not until Mirio Togata manages to calm him down that Deku regains his composure and re-enters the battlefield fully.

It’s clear this really had an impact on Deku, but for now he’s pushing it aside in order to deal with the problem at hand. He knows defeating Shigaraki and All For One is the top priority here, and while he’s worried about Bakugo and the others, he’ll need to handle all that stuff lately. It’s compartmentalizing the situation on a huge scale, and Deku’s carrying a ton of weight on his shoulders as the fights against the villains continue through the rest of the season and beyond.
