In “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” we’re delving into an unexplored aspect of the universe from “My Hero Academia.” The latest episode of the anime is shedding light on the early days of the first Ingenium, his time as a top-tier pro hero. A significant advantage of the spinoff series airing new episodes this Spring is that “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” takes place years before the storyline in the original series. This allows fans to explore the hero world before Deku and the students from Class 1-A start their hero careers at U.A. Academy, embarking on their individual journeys.
As a die-hard fan of “My Hero Academia,” I’m thrilled about the unique perspective that “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” offers! Unlike the main anime, this spin-off is set earlier in time, offering glimpses of our favorite heroes before they became teachers and allies at U.A. High School. It even sheds light on characters whose careers ended prematurely within the series, such as the original Ingenium, Tensei Iida. And

Ingenium Debuts in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes
In Episode 4 of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” the original version of the hero Ingenium makes his comeback in the main anime series. Prior to this, his older brother had assumed the role, but due to a regrettable event in the original series, Tensei was sidelined before fans could witness his full potential. Although his younger brother became an accomplished pro hero, it’s only with this new spin-off anime that we get to explore Tensei as a complex character engaging in battles against local villains.
In this version, we see Tensei not just standing still like in the original series, but actively engaging in actions, including encountering Koichi Haimawari personally. Here, Tensei offers practical guidance to help Koichi improve his quirk’s usage. Not only does he assist Koichi in mastering a technique that allows him to stop abruptly, which was a challenge earlier, but Tensei also attempts to enlist him into his hero team unaware of Koichi’s vigilante status. However, their interaction doesn’t end here, as their paths are likely to cross again in the future.
What’s Next for Ingenium?
In “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” Koichi and his expanding vigilante universe are just beginning to unfold, and the latest episode hinted at approval for Koichi’s neighborhood work from an unnamed pro hero. While the pro hero may not fully endorse his methods (as evidenced by withdrawing a job offer), there seems to be a potential link between them as the story progresses, a relationship that is likely to develop further.
So far, Koichi has encountered several hero characters in the new anime series, but there are many more to come as the trio of vigilantes prepare to face greater dangers in future episodes. Ingenium is one of the heroes who assists Koichi in his journey towards strength, and soon, the events leading up to a major chaos will unfold in the upcoming episodes.
