My Hero Academia Timeskip Breaks Hearts With Deku and Bakugo’s Final Goodbye

As a gamer who has spent countless hours immersed in the vibrant world of My Hero Academia, I must admit that the final chapter of this phenomenal manga has left me with a profound sense of nostalgia and melancholy. The special ending chapter, reminiscent of a post-credits scene in a blockbuster movie, offers a poignant farewell to Izuku Midoriya (Deku) and Katsuki Bakugo, two characters whose dynamic has been the heart and soul of the series.

The popular manga series “My Hero Academia” has concluded in Japan with the publication of its last volume, and a special additional chapter provides a poignant farewell scene between Izuku Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo as they part ways. Earlier this summer, Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine released the final chapter of the manga, but the series’ final volume has only recently become available in Japan this month. To celebrate the end of the series, creator Kohei Horikoshi added some new content following the original ending.

In Japan, the 42nd volume of the series “My Hero Academia” was released, featuring approximately 30 extra pages that introduced a fresh new chapter after the original conclusion. This extended ending serves to deepen our understanding of the hero universe inhabited by Izuku and his companions post-timeskip as depicted in the last chapter. It also provided some crucial final interactions among its major characters, offering fans emotional farewells between key figures. As for Deku and Bakugo, their long-standing rivalry turned partnership comes to an end as they embark on distinct journeys towards their individual futures.

How Do Deku and Bakugo Say Goodbye?

In Chapter 431 of My Hero Academia, the story unfolds post the series’ conclusion, approximately a month after Deku acquires his power suit from Bakugo and other ex-Class 1-A heroes. The gang convenes to honor Shoto Todoroki who has risen to Number 2 on the top heroes list. In this gathering, Bakugo offers Deku a ride, inquisitively asking if Deku plans to continue teaching now that he’s a hero. Deku affirms his intention, expressing joy over imparting his learnings to the next generation and finding even more happiness with his current role as a hero working alongside others.

Surprisingly, this was Bakugo attempting to persuade Deku to team up with him, but Deku declined instead. What irked Bakugo more was that Deku didn’t consider himself worthy of such a partnership, and he criticized Deku for being so oblivious to the obvious since he thinks so little of himself. In essence, treating everyone as extraordinary is almost the same as not appreciating anyone at all. This notion made Deku ponder.

Deku and Bakugo’s Final Scene Together

In case of an imminent carjacking, the ex-Class 1-A heroes unite swiftly, and Deku and Bakugo share a concluding moment. Bakugo boasts he arrived first, but Deku sets him straight by clarifying that wasn’t the case. Although it appears to be a minor incident, it signifies that Deku no longer simply humors Bakugo’s bragging. After years have passed, their rivalry has evolved, and Deku is now an individual who doesn’t need to prioritize someone else’s interests anymore.

Afterward, Bakugo offers a farewell gesture to Deku, and gradually, Deku moves farther away. This parting scene symbolizes the evolution of their bond as childhood heroes, as it’s now evident that their paths will diverge. They won’t be teaming up in battles anymore, and the separation leaves Bakugo feeling a tinge of sadness since he played a significant role in helping Deku realize his dream of becoming a hero. However, it turns out that over time, Deku discovered something else that means a great deal to him. Deku and Bakugo are maturing and growing apart, marking the conclusion of their unique friendship.
