The spin-off series, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes,” has commenced its new season as per the Spring 2025 anime lineup. Alongside its debut, the show unveiled both its opening and closing theme songs. The Spring 2025 schedule is brimming with highly anticipated releases of the year, and “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” is one of them – a series fans have eagerly awaited since its initial release due to its intriguing cast of characters. This spin-off is set five years before the events in “My Hero Academia,” making it a prequel that has sparked excitement among fans for quite some time.
With the premiere of the inaugural episode of “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” this Spring, preceding the final season of “My Hero Academia” which arrives this Fall, a larger audience will have the opportunity to follow the exploits of this group of rogue heroes and their connection to the main storyline. To set the stage, the anime has revealed its opening theme song, titled “Kekka Orai,” sung by Kocchi no Kento, and you can watch it in the video above. The closing theme is called “Speed” and is performed by yutori; you can find it in the video below.
What Is My Hero Academia: Vigilantes?
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, penned by Hidyuki Furuhashi and illustrated by Betten Court, serves as an official pre-series to My Hero Academia. Set five years prior to Izuku Midoriya and his Class 1-A peers embarking on their heroic paths, the story follows a fresh set of characters. Initially, they protect their community but soon find themselves confronted with saving the world instead. Koichi Haimawari dons an All Might hoodie to assume the role of the neighborhood vigilante “The Crawler.” However, his actions lead him into a predicament far larger than anything he had ever imagined.
In a similar vein, Deku looked up to All Might and aspired to be a hero, just as Koichi was motivated by All Might to offer assistance. However, when Koichi crossed paths with the vigilante Knuckleduster (a man who physically attacks criminals) and the local idol Pop Step (who also finds herself entangled in a larger predicament), they formed an unlikely trio. Together, these three individuals might be the only ones capable of thwarting shady dealings that could potentially escalate into significant events many years down the line in the world of My Hero Academia.
What’s Next for My Hero Academia?
This year, “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes” will mark the first significant hero anime spin-off from the franchise. Though the manga for “My Hero Academia” concluded last year, its TV anime is preparing for a grand finale soon. The series is coming back for Season 8, which will be its final season overall. Expected to premiere sometime in October as part of the Fall 2025 anime lineup, the exact release date for “My Hero Academia’s” final season has not been disclosed yet.
Known as “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON”, this upcoming season is set to make its global debut. The final season will be masterfully directed by Naomi Nakayama from studio Bones. Yosuke Kuroda will rejoin the team to pen the series’ scripts, while Kenji Nagasaki serves as chief director. Yoshihiko Umakoshi and Hitomi Odashima are in charge of the character designs, and Yuki Hayashi will compose the music. If you want to get up-to-speed, you can stream all the previous seasons now on Crunchyroll, and starting this Spring, you can enjoy My Hero Academia: Vigilantes episodes as well.
