As a die-hard fan of My Hero Academia who has been following the series since its early days, I must say that while the mystery surrounding Deku’s father, Hisashi Midoriya, remains unsolved, it hasn’t detracted from my enjoyment of the story. In fact, I find myself often pondering over the possibilities, much like a certain Quirk-less hero who can’t seem to catch a break!
As an ardent fan, I can’t help but gush over My Hero Academia, a worldwide sensation that has captivated audiences since its inception. The original manga and anime adaptations have left an indelible mark, garnering a legion of devoted fans from every corner of the globe. Although the anime continues to unfold, the manga reached its climax in August 2024, chronicling Izuku Midoriya’s transformation into the world’s most cherished hero.
In simpler terms, during San Diego Comic-Con 2018, the creator (Horikoshi) hinted that he would reveal the real identity of Deku’s father, Hisashi Midoriya, in future chapters of the manga. However, this revelation never occurred, leaving fans puzzled about who this mysterious person might be.
There Are Plenty Of Theories About Deku’s Parentage
Although the authentic identity of Izuku’s father has not been officially confirmed beyond his name, numerous fan theories abound, attempting to reveal the hidden man’s identity. One of the most widely discussed, albeit improbable, speculations posits that All For One could have secretly been Deku’s biological father. This theory seems implausible at first glance, but given Kohei Horikoshi’s avid fandom for Star Wars, many fans believe All For One might resemble Darth Vader in this series. Unfortunately, despite the anticipation, Izuku and AFO never have a climactic “I am your father” revelation in their final battle, which is not necessarily a disappointment.
In the world of “My Hero Academia,” I’m lucky enough to have All Might as my mentor, who started off as my childhood hero. Just like many shonen series, he’s become more than just a teacher; he’s taken on the role of a father figure. He’s been there for me through thick and thin, guiding me in ways only someone close could understand.
Did My Hero Academia Lose Anything By Not Including Izuku’s Dad In the Story?
It appears that Horikoshi may have had plans for Izuku and his father’s reunion at some point, given the name “Hisashi” means “long time ago,” but this didn’t create any major plot inconsistencies in the story of My Hero Academia. Apart from brief mentions, Deku has not expressed a deep desire to learn more about his father or for him to be involved in his hero career. Additionally, Todoroki’s family already had plenty of father-related issues, so there was no need to delve into this topic through the main character. In the end, it seems that Izuku and Inko are managing quite well without any direct involvement from Hisashi.
