My Hero Academia: Why Gentle's Return in Season 7 Will Change the War For Good

As a long-time fan of My Hero Academia, I must say that this latest episode was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride! The tension between UA Academy and the villains has never been higher, with Shigaraki regaining his powers and the students on the brink of disaster. But just when all hope seemed lost, in swooped some unexpected heroes to save the day!

In the latest episode of My Hero Academia’s anime, the situation took an unprecedented turn as UA Academy was heading towards the sea and Shigaraki reactivated his powers. This has never seemed more grim for Deku and his classmates at Class 1-A. However, just when all hope seemed lost, help arrived from unforeseen quarters. Not only did Lady Nagant and La Brava return to engage enemies like Shigaraki and Skeptic, but Gentle Criminal stepped in at the last minute with a move that could not only alter the course of the battle but also reshape the mindset of those involved.

For those who need a refresher on the mustached villain, Gentle Criminal, aka Danjuro Tobita, first started his career as a hero. Unfortunately, his terrible grades made it so that his dreams seemed impossible. In an attempt to forge his own path, Danjuro attempted to save a man falling out of a window. Unfortunately, his altruistic attempt went awry as Gentle’s attempt inadvertently stopped a professional hero from saving the victim, causing the falling man to be severely injured. Eventually, Gentle Criminal was born thanks to his desire to be a villain and gain notoriety by sharing his exploits online. Linking up with the pint-sized villain La Brava, Gentle Criminal fought Deku in season four and was defeated, causing him to do some serious reflection.

Gentle Criminal Saves The Day

Due to Skeptic successfully breaching UA Academy’s computer network, La Brava’s late intervention couldn’t prevent the floating school from drifting towards destruction. Then, Gentle Criminal stepped in. Previously a villain, he utilized his elastic abilities to anchor the island mid-air and halt its descent. Although Gentle Criminal didn’t exhibit such power before, La Brava’s faith in him transformed into confidence, amplifying his Quirk and making him a formidable figure.

Although Gentle Criminal may not be capable of directly confronting All For One and Shigaraki, his arrival significantly alters the tide of the battle in an unforeseen manner. With La Brava, Lady Nagant, and Deku’s influence causing some former adversaries to defect, the balance of power is shifting. In a situation where the Paranormal Liberation Front has been overwhelmingly outnumbering the heroes, Gentle’s assistance becomes invaluable.

UA Academy on Pause

At this critical juncture, Gentle’s intervention was perfectly timed, as keeping UA Academy airborne is crucial for our ultimate victory against Shigaraki. Nearly toppled by his Quirk, the decaying villain had almost managed to destroy the entire school. However, Lady Nagant’s skillful shot successfully separated Shigaraki from his arm. Although the fight isn’t over yet, our heroes find themselves in a significantly improved position compared to their situation in the previous episode.

The climactic battle isn’t just about defeating All For One and his followers; it’s also about saving the very essence of Hero Society. Over time, this society has faced numerous issues while promoting heroism, sometimes neglecting its own citizens. As fans of anime know, shonen franchise villains are intricate characters shaped by different circumstances. Interestingly, Deku’s impact is causing many antagonists to change their ways and strive for a society that serves everyone equally. This new approach could be seen as an attempt to atone for past wrongs and create a brighter future.
