My Hero Academia: You’re Next’s Home Video Release Will Include New Anime Short

As a devoted fan who has followed the adventures of Deku and his comrades since the early days of My Hero Academia, I am thrilled to learn that Kohei Horikoshi is working on a new anime short titled “A Piece of Cake.” Having grown up watching the series unfold, this news brings a sense of nostalgia and anticipation. The upcoming short will be based on one of Horikoshi’s original manga stories, providing an exciting glimpse into the world of My Hero Academia before the events of the fourth film, You’re Next.

As Kohei Horikoshi concluded the story of Deku and Class 1-A in the manga earlier this year, fans of My Hero Academia have been eagerly awaiting more content in the anime world. With just one season left in the eighth season of the anime adaptation, set to air in 2025, there are limited choices for the shonen to produce new animated stories. Fortunately, a fresh anime journey is on its way with the upcoming home video release of the franchise’s fourth film, My Hero Academia: You’re Next. A new short anime has been announced, directly from the creator himself, Kohei Horikoshi.

If you missed the theater screening of “My Hero Academia: You’re Next”, the fourth movie in this popular shonen series is scheduled for home release on February 19th next year. The newest film introduction teased the arrival of Dark Might, a new villain with an eerie resemblance to the former Symbol of Peace. With abilities reminiscent of All Might, this new adversary has compelled UA Academy’s top students to unite once more and thwart his evil intentions.

“A Piece of Cake” Short

The upcoming anime special is based on the original manga short from Kohei Horikoshi himself, “A Piece of Cake.” Taking place prior to the events of My Hero Academia: You’re Next, the manga story sees Class 1-A training their Quirks along with All Might pontificating about the current state of the world. The short story also introduced Dark Might and his followers to the manga for the first time, hinting at what is to come within the fourth film of the franchise. My Hero Academia’s Future on Film

The fourth movie in the “My Hero Academia” series hasn’t been officially declared as the last one yet. This news has sparked excitement among anime enthusiasts, who are hoping that more movies will follow, or at least a continuation of Deku and his classmates’ adventures on the big screen. Although the manga conclusion of Class 1-A’s story is quite conclusive, there’s a chance that creator Kohei Horikoshi could collaborate with Studio BONES to create new stories after the final chapter, hinting at potential future movies.

Regarding the last season of the popular television show, Studio BONES has hinted that it will debut in 2025, although a specific release date hasn’t been set yet. Given the pivotal events from the original storyline, viewers should brace themselves for some of the most dramatic moments ever seen in this shonen series. Even though several battles from the final war have already concluded, the struggle against Shigaraki and All For One continues as our heroes tirelessly fight to protect Hero Society.

Fortunately, a significant element of the “My Hero Academia” universe remains unaddressed in “My Hero Academia: Vigilantes”. The spin-off narrative primarily explores the realm of vigilantes who combat crime beyond legal boundaries, potentially offering numerous seasons if it aligns with the original content. While not yet confirmed, Crawler’s side story seems promising for continuing “My Hero Academia’s” tale on screen.
