In a new development, Fumito Ueda of genDESIGN unveiled their upcoming, currently unnamed project. The trailer features a young character boarding a massive robot as the countdown reaches 60 seconds. Although the specifics are unclear, it’s evident that a powerful shockwave has destroyed the robot, leaving only the character and the robot’s upper part intact. The game appears to delve into sci-fi dystopian themes, distinguishing itself from Ueda’s previous works. This is genDESIGN’s second title, following their debut in 2016 with “The Last Guardian.

Fumito Ueda is highly respected in the world of video games, known for creating some of the most memorable game titles. His unique style of storytelling, characterized by simplicity, and his self-invented language have earned him a dedicated following, leading to a near-legendary status among gamers.

Initially, his unique character emerged when he took on the dual roles of director and lead designer for the game ‘Ico’ in 2003. After that, under his leadership, Team Ico crafted the game known as ‘Shadow of the Colossus‘, which hit the shelves in 2005. The game was highly acclaimed for its high-definition, realistic lighting and simplistic gameplay style.

Initially unveiled as Project Trico at E3 2009, his upcoming project, The Last Guardian, was later revealed at E3 2015. Six years had passed between these events. During this time, the game’s production was moved to genDESIGN, a studio founded by its creator, Ueda, and former Team Ico members.
