Naruto Creator Reveals His Favorite Arc From the Series

As a seasoned gamer with a deep affection for manga and anime, I can wholeheartedly appreciate Masashi Kishimoto’s choice of his favorite arc in the Naruto series. The epilogue where Naruto and Sasuke finally come to terms and acknowledge each other’s worth is not only an emotional climax but also a testament to the power of friendship and understanding.

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator behind the Naruto series, has shared his preferred arc from the show. To mark two decades since the original TV anime adaptation began, the Naruto franchise is currently working on new projects. During their fan events in France, Kishimoto and writer/artist Mikio Ikemotto of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex have been dishing out behind-the-scenes info about both manga releases. As they discuss the challenges and triumphs of publishing with Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine, Kishimoto has spoken candidly about some of the toughest parts of serializing the series over time.

Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of ‘Naruto’, has been dishing out some behind-the-scenes information about the series that wasn’t discussed before in interviews. In a recent chat with La Nouvelle Republique in France, Kishimoto shared more details about his favorite scenes from the series. According to him, his most cherished arc is the epilogue, where Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha have their climactic confrontation. During this battle, Sasuke eventually acknowledges that perhaps Naruto was correct on many matters.

Naruto: Masashi Kishimoto’s Favorite Arc

In his own words, Kishimoto stated that the climactic battle between Naruto and Sasuke seems to be where he acknowledges defeat. This aligns with his approach when creating villains within the series, as he prefers to delve into their complex human aspects rather than focusing on creating a traditional “super villain.” Kishimoto expressed, “I wanted to maintain a sense of humanity throughout my story. I could have created ‘super villains,’ but that had been done before. Instead, it’s essential to follow the golden rule in manga: do what has not yet been done.

This is the perfect way to look at the dynamic between Naruto and Sasuke. The two might be in constant battle with one another through the series’ duration thanks to their role as rivals, but it starts to shift when Sasuke fully leaves the Hidden Leaf Village and starts to strike out on his own. But even when he decides to go off the beaten path and does some terrible things, Naruto refuses to give up on him and remains one of Sasuke’s closest confidants despite how much Sasuke tried to push him away.

Why Do Naruto and Sasuke Fight in the End?

It seems almost fated that these two were meant to clash in a battle reminiscent of the climactic scene from Naruto. Their ultimate confrontation concludes their story arc in the original series, serving as a testament to their personal growth following numerous shared experiences. Through this struggle, Naruto has demonstrated increased physical power and emotional resilience, whereas Sasuke begins to acknowledge past errors. Significantly, this final encounter serves more as a catalyst for Sasuke’s self-realization than it does for Naruto.

By the conclusion of the series, Naruto has blossomed into a well-rounded individual due to his numerous battles and the backing he received from the Hidden Leaf Village following his triumphs. However, it was Sasuke who remained somewhat reserved, and it was actually Sasuke who represented Naruto’s primary objective. He yearned for his toughest adversary to acknowledge him, and in this final battle where they end up with a stalemate, Sasuke eventually conceded. It’s no surprise that the creator favors this storyline.
