Naruto Fans, Face It. Boruto Is Really Good Now.

Well, as a gamer who’s spent countless hours immersed in the vibrant world of Naruto, I must say that Boruto: Two Blue Vortex has truly outdone itself! It’s like Masashi Kishimoto took a fresh, juicy slice of life and tossed it into the blender of shonen action, hitting “puree” just when we thought the story was starting to get a tad stale.

Previously, numerous Naruto enthusiasts believed there was no need for the story to carry on after Naruto became the Seventh Hokage, Madara Uchiha was defeated, and peace returned to Konoha. Despite this, the tale of the Hidden Leaf Village moved forward with “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations”. Initially, some shonen lovers felt that Boruto, as the son of the Seventh Hokage, wouldn’t be able to match his father’s level of quality. However, we believe it’s appropriate to discuss why the arc “Boruto: Two Blue Vortex” has managed to break free from the curse and emerge as a strong continuation of Masashi Kishimoto’s acclaimed work.

Initially, let’s delve into the unique narrative of the “Two Blue Vortex” compared to its predecessor. Unlike Naruto Shippuden, Boruto Uzumaki doesn’t embark on his teenage journey within the Hidden Leaf Village. Instead, he faces a dangerous predicament where his former companions are pursuing him. This change in circumstances stems from the power of the ex-Kara member Eida, who has manipulated the world into believing that Boruto is responsible for the deaths of his parents, Naruto and Hinata. As the son of the Seventh Hokage navigates through this tumultuous phase, he encounters new adversaries in the form of the Divine Trees. These foes carry a chilling resemblance to the struggles that our beloved anime characters have faced before.

The Two Blue Vortex: Different Is Better

As a dedicated fan, I must admit that one area where “Boruto: Naruto Next Generations” fell short for me was in the storytelling department. It felt like some aspects were pale imitations of what made the original “Naruto” series and its successor, “Naruto: Shippuden,” so captivating. For instance, while the Kara Organization may have had their own unique motivations, they failed to shine in comparison to the Akatsuki, a formidable group of villainous ninjas that left an indelible mark on anime history.

In the beginning of my adventure with “Naruto Next Generations,” I found myself navigating a world where the creator, Masashi Kishimoto, had passed on his reigns to his trusted deputy, Mikio Ikemoto. While Mikio brought some fresh concepts, the characters seemed to be more like blends of their ancestors, facing fewer struggles compared to their predecessors. Boruto may have been battling an internal demon, but Momoshiki lacked the charm and impact that the Nine-Tailed Fox possessed. Fortunately, Kishimoto reclaimed control over the series and has been making bold moves, shaking things up in Konoha with some major changes.

Starting immediately, Masashi eliminated key figures on both sides by taking out Kara’s leader Jigen and Kurama. With these powerful ninjas now out of commission, the balance of power shifted dramatically, leading to rapid changes across the ninja world. Code, once Jigen’s right-hand man, has since formed his own army, but a new threat called the Divine Trees poses a danger not only to him but also to our heroes.

What Makes Boruto Good Now?

A new element of uncertainty has been added to the narrative of “Two Blue Vortex“, as Boruto’s current rebellious stance sets him against friends and foes alike. Although Boruto’s present predicament bears some resemblance to Naruto’s Shippuden period, in that he was training with Kashin Koji, a clone of Jiraiya, the current plotline is showing Boruto venturing out on his own. With the loss of many of his companions, Boruto has grown more independent, not just in terms of his character development but also his power level.

Inverting the roles between Boruto and his previous companions, turning them into adversaries instead, is a clever twist. This plot development not only amplifies the tension, but also sets up some intriguing confrontations that wouldn’t have occurred without Eida’s enchantment. Moreover, due to Kawaki’s personality leading him against his “brother” Boruto, it seems that young Uzumaki faces more obstacles than Naruto ever did in his time. The fresh setting, distinct from the original series, provides an excellent backdrop for narrative exploration.

Two Blue Vortex: Creating Its Own Legacy

Previously discussed, Boruto was seen as an unwarranted sequel by many shonen enthusiasts, given that Naruto had already concluded its story about becoming the Seventh Hokage and leaving a lasting impact on the ninja world. However, The Two Blue Vortex has successfully emerged from the shadow of its predecessor and established a strong base for a promising future.

In addition to its unexpected twists, the sequel series has delivered robust battles and plot elements so far. The character Himawari, Boruto’s sister, now plays a significant role in the main storyline with her acquisition of the Nine-Tailed Fox’s power. On the other hand, Boruto’s development following years of training has made him formidable, although his abilities differ from those of his sibling. By presenting distinct challenges for Boruto to overcome and guiding him on a unique journey separate from his father, the series Two Blue Vortex excels, showcasing one of its key strengths thus far.

As a devoted gamer, I can’t help but feel a tinge of disappointment as Studio Pierrot remains tight-lipped about the return of our beloved shonen franchise’s anime adaptation. Frankly, I’m also in the dark about when we might finally witness the animation of Two Blue Vortex. With numerous chapters of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations still to be adapted, following the demise of Jigen and Kurama, and four original Naruto episodes hinted at by Pierrot, it seems we’re in for a wait. But I’m optimistic that this upcoming series will undoubtedly be worth every moment of patience.
