Natalie Cassidy on EastEnders Exit

It’s the end of an era.

Fans of the long-running soap opera EastEnders are gearing up to say goodbye again to a cherished character, Sonia. This week, actress Natalie Cassidy shared her feelings on the subject with TopMob magazine.

She mentioned: “I departed once previously, in 2007, returned briefly on occasion, and then arrived again in 2014,” she shared with Jonathan Hughes.

“It’s good to rest a character, though this time I felt I really was saying goodbye.”

It’s certain to be a heartfelt goodbye, as the actress describes Sonia’s last week as wondrous, even amidst the recent trials and tribulations the character has endured.

“It’s a nice look back on her history,” she added.

In 1993, at the tender age of 10, Sonia had already gained some experience. She shared this journey with TopMob as follows: “Initially, I was supposed to portray a petite, fair-haired, and delicate girl.

Originally, they planned to have Lindsey Coulson play Carol Jackson and envisioned a smaller version of herself for the role of her daughter. However, it was me who eventually joined the cast!

The actress announced that she is departing to devote more attention to her daughters and also to explore other ventures, such as hosting.

She also has a memoir titled Happy Days landing later this year.
