Last month, the second season of “The Rehearsal” graced television screens for viewers overseas, yet fans in the UK have been remarkably patient as they eagerly await its release. Fortunately, the wait is almost over!
On Monday, 26th May at 10:00 pm, Nathan Fielder’s docu-comedy series will officially air for UK viewers on Sky Comedy and NOW. The second episode will air immediately afterwards at 10:50 pm on the same day.
Again, I find myself marveling at Fielder’s unique approach to empowering others. He skillfully transforms reality by portraying a fictionalized version of himself, guiding everyday people in preparing for challenging dialogues or significant life events, all while utilizing professional actors and stage settings.
Season 1 focused on the challenge of starting a family, whereas in Season 2, the importance of Fielder’s project escalates, as he chooses to direct his resources towards an issue that impacts everyone – ensuring aviation safety.
And the second season has already caused quite a stir.
Lana Love, a previous competitor on ‘The Voice USA’, revealed to Variety that she journeyed to Los Angeles for what she believed was a genuine talent competition with a grand reward… but instead found out it was unauthentic and turned out to be a segment of the show ‘The Rehearsal’.
Neither HBO nor representatives for Fielder have commented on the story at the time of writing.
In other places, the series gained attention due to scenes where Fielder spoke out against Paramount+ for removing an episode from his prior show, Nathan for You, after a content assessment.
In The Rehearsal, Fielder explains that he aimed to emphasize the urgency of his message while still maintaining a polite tone, using expressions such as ‘always thankful’ and ‘wishing you a joyous holiday season’.
As a film critic, I can confirm that the network explicitly stated they intentionally removed the content, citing ‘sensitivities’ as the reason behind this decision.
