Ryan Dorsey is still navigating life without Naya Rivera.
Approximately five years following the tragic drowning incident involving the star of Glee and his son Josey in California’s Lake Piru, Ryan has expressed that he is making the most positive efforts possible to support their now 9-year-old child.
On your celestial birthday, the actor who married Naya in 2014 penned a heartfelt Instagram tribute. Every day, his thoughts are filled with wondering about what could have been different. The recollections linked to locations remain vivid, and he can still see all the things we shared, see all our faces.
As I listen to that particular tune, it feels like a whirlwind of joy and sorrow spans 15 years before my eyes, he went on to explain. He frequently shakes his head in amazement, still finding it hard to believe. People say time cures all wounds, but not all pain is merely grief.
At the same time as his note, Ryan posted a picture of them both at a Golden Globes gathering in January 2016. This event turned out to be one of their last formal appearances together before Naya filed for divorce. Despite a temporary reconciliation the following year, Naya eventually chose to refile for divorce in December 2017 and their separation was legally finalized in June 2018.
Despite their breakup, the duo remained on the same page when it came to co-parenting their son.
Ryan expressed in his message to Naya (on her birthday, January 12th), “I’m doing my utmost for JoJo Binx.” He often finds himself reminiscing and thinking deeply about our good old times. It reminds him of a cherished memory from the past, but the pain it brings is still raw.
“Be kind to the one’s you love,” Ryan concluded. “You’ll never know when you give your last hug.”
In July, as a tribute to the fourth year since Naya’s passing, Heather Morris, one of Naya’s co-stars from Glee, posted an update about her process of coping with loss.
Heather, who played Brittany Pierce in our cherished series with Naya as Santana Lopez, posted on Instagram on the 8th of July. ‘I can hardly believe it’s been 4 years,’ she said. ‘Time truly flies. Yet every year I’m still caught off guard by how much it still hurts.’
She went on to say, “We’ve experienced growth, separation, and reunion in a truly captivating manner.” She paused, her voice thick with emotion. “Oh, how much I’ve missed you…yet it feels as if you’ve never truly left us…you’re still present, guiding us towards our greatest heights. I long for your presence, dear Nay Nay.
