NBA 2K25 Announces Full Rookie Ratings

As someone who has been playing NBA 2K since its inception and following the NBA draft closely for years, I must say, this year’s rookie class seems to have been rated quite fairly by the developers. The top picks, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant, have received high ratings reflecting their incredible talent and potential. However, it’s always interesting to see players like Bronny James Jr., son of the legendary LeBron James, coming in at a respectable 68 overall.

In a matter of just weeks, we can expect the release of NBA 2K25, and its developer, 2K Sports, has been gradually sharing details about the game to excite fans. Lately, we’ve gained insights into the gameplay mechanics and MyCareer mode, while also catching glimpses of ratings for leading WNBA players. 2K hinted that they would unveil the ratings for the top 100 NBA players on August 19th, but gave fans a sneak peek into what to anticipate from the upcoming basketball stars. Just recently, the complete set of rookie ratings for NBA 2K25 has been made available online, allowing fans to see where 2K believes this year’s batch of rookies stand in relation to the rest of the league.

As a long-time basketball enthusiast and former college player, I must admit that this year’s NBA draft has piqued my interest more than ever before. The Atlanta Hawks made a bold move by selecting budding French star Zaccharie Risacher with their first pick. Having played alongside international players myself, I can appreciate the unique talents they bring to the court. Risacher seems like a promising addition to the team, especially when paired with deadly scorer Trae Young.

Last year, Victor Wembanyama was the top draft pick, and 2K initially gave him an 84 Overall Rating. Given his exceptional abilities, it’s not surprising he received such a high rating. However, Brandon Miller, Scoot Henderson, Amen Thompson, Ausar Thompson, and others were all rated higher than Risacher and Sarr, suggesting that this year’s class might be less talented overall. It appears that 2K shares this view, as indicated by their ratings.

Absolutely, there are many other impressive names featured on this list as well. For instance, Zach Edey, a two-time College Player of the Year, earned a score of 72 overall, while Bronny James, son of basketball legend LeBron James, received a 68 overall rating. The complete roster of ratings for newcomers can be found below. NBA 2K25 is set to debut on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and PC on September 6th.
