As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that NBA 2K25 has me more excited than a kid on Christmas morning! The addition of RPG elements to MyGM mode is a game-changer, offering a level of customization and replayability that’s been missing in previous versions.
In about a month, NBA 2K25 will be released, and its developer, 2K Sports, has been sharing exciting details about the game recently. So far, gamers have received a breakdown of gameplay mechanics and had their first glimpses of MyCareer and MyPlayer. Today, they’ve unveiled MyGM, the popular franchise mode that’s been one of 2K Sports’ key selling points over the past few years due to the rise of microtransactions in other modes. For NBA 2K25, they’re incorporating more RPG elements into this mode, offering players new ways to construct a franchise and significantly increasing its replay value.
When embarking on a fresh General Manager (GM) Mode journey in NBA 2K25, you’ll initially need to select your GM’s background or origin story. This choice grants special abilities and bonuses that influence your team-building strategy. For instance, if you opt for an ex-player, managing team harmony will be smoother, while the “Closer” can negotiate superior trades with rival GMs. In total, there are 55 Perks to discover, although not all can be acquired. This makes each new save a chance to experiment and try out different strategies. Additionally, each background comes equipped with two unique Perks; one is activated at the start of your GM career, while the other becomes available as you progress and level up.
Over the latest Game Manager (GM) update, you’ll find fresh discussions designed to mold your team’s objectives. Your character attributes determine which dialogue choices are accessible, so characters with high charisma can establish less challenging goals. This feature bears a resemblance to the dialog system found in classic RPGs, such as Fallout 2K. Additionally, they’ve introduced a new MyGM workspace where players can move around and engage with their staff. Imagine it as a corporate version of The City from MyPlayer.
Without a doubt, the new year of MyGM wouldn’t feel complete without a fresh addition to the MyEra edition of the game mode. For several years now, 2K Sports has been gradually expanding the historical mode, adding new periods each year. In NBA 2K25, they’re introducing the Curry Era, which begins in 2016 when the Golden State Warriors signed Kevin Durant to one of the greatest teams in NBA history. If you’re not managing the Warriors, it will be quite a struggle to emerge victorious during this period, but veteran players should find the challenge enjoyable.
NBA 2K25 launches on September 6th for PlayStation, Switch, Xbox, and PC platforms.
