NBA 2K25 Guide – 5 Advanced Tips And Tricks

As a seasoned gamer with countless hours logged into NBA 2K series, I must say that Visual Concepts has outdone themselves yet again with NBA 2K25. While it maintains the core gameplay we love, the new features and changes are a breath of fresh air for long-time fans like myself.

In the spirit of NBA 2K25 by Visual Concepts, while it adheres to the traditional formula and core mechanics, it presents a host of modifications and fresh elements. Whether long-term fans accept these changes or not is debatable, but the game provides numerous adjustable options, settings, and extras to guarantee victory. It’s worth mentioning some advice for MyCareer and badge advancement as well.

MyCareer Teams

With MyCareer, you can bring your NBA dreams to life by going head-to-head with top-tier competitors worldwide. Once you’ve picked your preferred position, it’s time to select the perfect team for you. For all positions, consider joining powerhouse teams like the Los Angeles Lakers or Dallas Mavericks. If you’re intrigued by playing as a forward or guard, give the Denver Nuggets or Oklahoma City Thunder a closer look. For newcomers, starting with the Lakers can provide a great introduction to the game before making more specific position and team decisions.

Turn Off Adaptive Coaching (and Other Settings)

If you prefer having full control over your team’s strategies rather than letting the CPU decide, navigate to the Settings menu and look for the Adaptive Coaching Engine. You can toggle this between Offensive, Defensive, or both options, but if you want to create your own plans, it’s best to turn it off. Make sure that Substitutions, Timeouts, Defense Playcalling, Offense Playcalling, and Late-Game Fouling are all set to Manual instead of Automatic. This way, the CPU won’t make those decisions for you, giving you complete control over your team.

Adjust Shot Timing Profile

This year has seen some modifications in shooting mechanics, but not all of these changes have been met with approval. To create a sense of familiarity with past games, navigate to the settings and alter the Shot Timing Profile to Normal Risk-Reward. Essentially, this setting will make your shot opportunity respond normally to jump shots.

Adjust the Shot Timing Indicator to coincide with Set Point, as this provides the most reliable trigger for shot releases. To enhance your game further, navigate to the Customize HUD settings, then hide the visual representation of shots on the Shot Meter.

Turn Off Passive Dribble Hand Switches

The “Random Dribble Hand Swaps” function is a novelty that lets your active player use unpredictable dribbling moves. However, since certain combinations depend on the hand holding the ball, these random switches could disrupt your overall flow. To ensure safety and maintain consistency, consider turning it off.

Badge Performance Multipliers

If you’re not keen on working through The Dunes or The Temple in The City to boost your Badges, take a peek at the Performance Multipliers section in MyCareer. To activate these multipliers, you need to achieve certain objectives across various game modes such as Winner Takes All, where you must win 30 NBA games following a tip from Mikal Bridges.

However, they provide passive increases to badge progression under certain conditions, like winning games, finishing with an A- Teammate Grade or higher, playing against Top 10 Power Ranking opponents, etc. These will also benefit the other grinding methods, so consider pursuing them ASAP.
