As a seasoned theater critic with decades of experiences under my belt, I must say that the upcoming production of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest at the National Theatre is shaping up to be an absolute delight. The stellar cast, led by the charismatic and multi-talented Ncuti Gatwa, promises a performance that will leave audiences in stitches.


Actor Ncuti Gatwa has been announced for the cast of the National Theatre’s forthcoming staging of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest.

He is joined by a stellar cast that includes fellow Doctor Who star and West End icon Sharon D Clarke, who had nothing but praise for the Fifteenth Doctor actor during a recent appearance on The One Show.

Clarke stated that Gatwa embodies beauty when describing his experience working with him, as per Alex Jones’ question.

She remarked, causing Miranda Hart’s laughter, “He’s an exceptionally handsome man, he’s incredibly kind-hearted, he’s incredibly witty, his inner beauty shines brightly, and his outer charm is captivating too.

In this production, Gatwa takes on the role of Algy, while Clarke portrays Lady Bracknell. The cast is also graced by Hugh Skinner, known for his work in Fleabag, who plays Jack. Additionally, we have Ronkẹ Adékọluẹjọ́ from Rain Dogs as Gwendolen Fairfax and Eliza Scanlen, famed from Little Women, as Cecily Cardew.

Beginning 20th November 2024, the renowned play “The Importance of Being Earnest” is set to grace the Lyttelton stage at London’s National Theatre, continuing until 25th January 2025. Remarkably, some tickets are still available for purchase!

If you’re unable to travel to London or couldn’t secure tickets, don’t worry! The film will be screened at cinemas globally starting from February 20th, 2025. Simply search for a theater showing it near you.

The play “The Importance of Being Earnest” is set to be performed on the Lyttelton stage at London’s National Theatre from November 20th, 2024 to January 25th, 2025. Prior to a movie release in February 2025.
