The game development studio, Streum On Studio, recognized for creating titles such as “Necromunda: Hired Gun,” “Space Hulk: Deathwing,” and “E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy,” has declared that it is separating from its publisher, Focus Entertainment, which it was previously acquired by back in 2021.
In addition to launching as a standalone production house, Streum On is simultaneously developing an unspoken game. The studio has unveiled a sneak peek trailer for this project, hinting that its world premiere will take place sometime in Summer 2025. Take a look at the teaser video below.
This yet-to-be-named game remains largely mysterious, with only a hint that chaos is imminent, as stated in its trailer. The teaser video offers a blend of futuristic and mythical visuals, featuring two towering figures brandishing spears and enormous shields, standing guard at an ominous gateway. Additionally, the game may introduce a potentially formidable villain, who seems to reside behind this protected entrance.
Although quite different from their past work on the Warhammer 40,000 games, the style shown in the recent teaser hints that their upcoming game could share some connection with the 2011 RPG shooter E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy.
In a nutshell, “E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy” is widely recognized as a cult favorite among players. The game’s unique narrative approach was somewhat peculiar, with pivotal plot points sometimes disclosed through item descriptions or brief interactions with non-player characters (NPCs) – similar to the storytelling techniques that FromSoftware later made famous in their “Souls” series.
In “E.Y.E: Divine Cybermancy,” players could collaborate in a multiplayer setting, where events transpiring in the multiplayer sessions would influence the single-player experience as well. The game placed significant focus on managing the psychological and emotional turmoil of the player character, while simultaneously providing various opportunities to engage enemies with 25 customizable weapons.
As I, an ardent admirer, was deeply engrossed in the creation of our epic ‘Warhammer 40,000’ title, ‘Necromunda: Hired Gun’, a momentous event unfolded – Streum On Studios became part of the Focus Entertainment family. This transformation promises exciting new possibilities for our shared love for immersive gaming experiences!
For about a year, but especially in the last half-year, Focus Entertainment has undergone significant changes according to Christophe Nobileau, who was then chairman of the management board. Now, our company has a modified business structure, an active Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) team, improved governance, a revitalized executive committee, and a retention plan for crucial managers.
“By making these alterations, we’ll be able to pour more resources into game creation and boost our profitability substantially from next year onward. We’re thrilled about the acquisition of Streum On Studio, and we’re also having ongoing talks with other studios for potential partnerships, as well as pursuing strategic objectives for Focus Home Interactive.
While you anticipate Streum On Studios to unveil further information about their upcoming main title, here’s a chance to delve into our assessment of their last production – “Necromunda: Hired Gun“. In this critique, we lauded the combat and visual aesthetics, yet pointed out some performance glitches.
