Neflix Announces New Anya Taylor-Joy Series How to Kill Your Family

As a die-hard fan of captivating storytelling and exceptional performances, I can hardly contain my excitement for Netflix’s adaptation of “How To Kill Your Family.” Anya Taylor-Joy, who has already made her mark with iconic roles in shows like The Queen’s Gambit and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, is set to take on the lead role as Grace Bernard.

Actress Anya Taylor-Joy is set to return to Netflix! Known for her roles in shows like The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance and The Queen’s Gambit, which won 11 Emmy Awards, she will now star in an adaptation of the best-selling novel, How To Kill Your Family, penned by Bella Mackie. As per a recent report from Variety, this upcoming series was announced at the Edinburgh TV Festival today and will consist of eight episodes. Taylor-Joy will portray Grace Bernard, the “murderous protagonist” in the show.

Taylor-Joy expressed, “Once I finished reading the last page, I felt compelled to contribute to the story’s transformation. Delighted by the opportunity, I have been tracking Bella Mackie, and now couldn’t be more excited to work with Sally, Lizzie, and Emma. I can’t wait to dive deeper into this collaboration.”

Mackie commented, “It’s been exhilarating to see the characters I created come alive through this exceptional creative team.” He went on to say that Anya is an ideal choice for playing Grace, as she seems to grasp her character better than he does. Working with Sid Gentle has been delightful, and meeting Emma has given me a strong sense of assurance that the book will be well-cared for.

Netflix is teaming up with Sid Gentle Films Ltd (known for “Killing Eve”) on this venture. Emma Moran (“Extraordinary”), serving as both the lead writer and executive producer, will be taking charge. Additionally, Saoirse Ronan’s production company, LadyKiller Productions Inc, has signed on with Taylor-Joy serving as an executive producer. Sally Woodward Gentle, Lizzie Rusbridger, and Lee Morris are also serving as executive producers under Sid Gentle, while Mackie is joining as a co-executive producer.

“Grace hails from a complex family background. Her father is Simon Artemis, a wealthy and relentless social climber who denies remembering their affair. Grace and her mother were left to survive on their own as a result. In the narrative, we learn that after her mother’s demise and being shunned by those who should have offered support, Grace channels her resentment into something productive: systematically eliminating her distant relatives in intriguingly macabre ways. Pursuing revenge and a substantial inheritance, Grace’s quest paradoxically pushes her further away from what truly matters.”
