As a movie critic who has spent countless hours immersed in the rich tapestry of Australian soaps, I must say that Ryan Moloney’s departure from Neighbours feels like the end of an era – much like when Kylie Minogue left for pop stardom. However, unlike Kylie’s brief foray into space (and we all know how that ended), Toadie’s journey seems to be heading towards the Outback, where danger and intrigue lurk around every corner.
Ryan Moloney shares his feelings about his upcoming exit from the popular Australian series Neighbours, following his announcement to part ways with the cherished character Toadie Rebecchi he’s been playing for so long.
Since 1995, the actor has been portraying Toadie. Soon, this character will step into the limelight as several main characters from Ramsay Street embark on a journey to the Outback, where potential perils lurk nearby.
“Yes, I believe it’s quite effective! It seems like we really pushed the character to their extreme boundaries,” he admitted. “I feel like we achieved a satisfying conclusion with it.”
Absolutely! I’m feeling quite cheerful, actually. I’m rather looking forward to what lies ahead, and I can hardly wait to join all of you for Toad on the Road! It seems that the journey of the Toad is far from over, at least not just yet! Of course, you know how much I enjoy our gatherings.
I’m thrilled to share that this September, I’ll be gracing the stages of the UK as part of Moloney’s solo tour, “Toad on the Road.” It’s a journey down memory lane, spanning nearly three decades of my time on Neighbours. And let me tell you, Toadie is in for a ride, as his past – filled with its share of ups and downs – seems to be catching up with him, stirring up some nostalgic emotions.
Given the tumultuous events unfolding on-screen, we’ll have to stay tuned to find out how Toadie fares in the upcoming weeks.
Neighbours airs its big Death in the Outback week from Monday 19th August on Amazon Freevee.
Neighbours continues on Amazon Freevee every Monday to Thursday from 7am.
