Neon Inferno launches in Q3 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC

In a fresh announcement by the new publisher, Retroware, it’s confirmed that the game titled Neon Inferno, a blend of run-and-gun 2D and gallery-shooter, developed by Zenovia and set in a futuristic New York City of 2055, is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam in the third quarter of 2025.

Here is an overview of the game, via Retroware:

About

Drawing inspiration from timeless games such as Contra and Wild Guns, Neon Inferno offers an engaging gameplay experience by dividing the action between the foreground and background. It features a diverse array of enemies and bosses within levels that are set in a gritty, dystopian New York City of 2055.

Under Zenovia Interactive’s guidance, and published by Retroware, Neon Inferno offers players an opportunity to assume the roles of either Angelo or Mariana. These characters are part of a struggling crime family in their bid for power against a corrupt NYPD and rival criminal organizations within the battleground of a devastated urban landscape.

In “Bullet Time,” you’ve got the power to bounce specific projectiles off in any direction towards your preferred enemies, whether they are in front or behind! Featuring a variety of upgrades to customize between missions, different levels of difficulty including an Arcade Mode, and the option for two-player cooperation, you can approach each mission according to your preference.

Key Features

  • Shoot Close, Aim Far – A dynamic blend of side-scroller and gallery-shooter, where the action takes place in both foreground and background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time).
  • Glorious 32-Bit Style – A science-fiction cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack.
  • Two-Player Cooperative Play – With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn’t you be better off with a friend?
  • Satisfying Arcade Challenge – Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode…or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.
