Neon Inferno launches October 2

In a fusion of run-and-gun and gallery shooter genres, Neon Inferno, an exciting game set in New York City in the year 2055, is scheduled to release on October 2 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. This announcement was made jointly by publishers Retroware and developers Zenovia.

Here is an overview of the game, via Retroware:

About

Drawing inspiration from timeless games such as Contra and Wild Guns, Neon Inferno sets its high-octane gameplay against both the foreground and background, featuring an array of foes and bosses within levels depicting a dystopian New York City in 2055.

Under Zenovia Interactive’s guidance and Retroware’s publication, Neon Inferno offers players the chance to assume the characters of either Angelo or Mariana, engaging in fierce battles for a struggling crime family seeking power amidst a corrupt NYPD and various other criminal organizations, all within a devastated urban landscape.

Using “Bullet Time” feature, players can send selected projectiles back towards desired enemies, irrespective of whether they are in the foreground or background. Various upgrades can be picked for customization between missions, multiple challenge levels including an Arcade Mode, and the option for two-player collaboration ensure that players have the freedom to approach their tasks in the manner they prefer.

Key Features

  • Shoot Close, Aim Far – A dynamic blend of side-scroller and gallery-shooter, where the action takes place in both foreground and background (like playing Contra and Wild Guns at the same time).
  • Glorious 32-Bit Style – A science-fiction cityscape rendered in beautiful pixel art and backed by an evocative soundtrack.
  • Two-Player Cooperative Play – With danger lurking around every street corner, wouldn’t you be better off with a friend?
  • Satisfying Arcade Challenge – Enjoy a playthrough on an easier mode… or put your skills and resilience to the test with 1-credit-clear arcade mode.
