Netflix Canceling Its Cheapest Ad-Free Package

As a long-time Netflix subscriber, I’ve grown accustomed to the convenience and affordability of their ad-free streaming plan. But now, it seems that’s all changing. The recent announcement that they’re axing the $11.99 per month ad-free subscription plan has left me feeling a bit uneasy.

As a long-time Netflix user who has been enjoying the ad-free streaming experience for years, I was taken aback by their recent decision to eliminate the $11.99 per month plan. This was the only affordable option for me that allowed me to watch my favorite shows and movies without interruptions from advertisements. Now, I’m left with a tough choice: pay almost double the price for an ad-free experience or opt for the cheaper ad-supported plan.

In essence, we’re offering consumers an upgraded version with two separate streams instead of one. “We’re confident we’ve effectively dealt with unauthorized account sharing on Netflix. People use these features, such as Transfer Profile and Extra Member, which have been highly demanded, and a large number of our subscribers now utilize them.”

They added, “Currently, we rely on paid sharing as our standard business practice. This approach expands our customer base significantly and allows us to better reach the approximately 500 million connected TV households, excluding China and Russia. As broadband becomes more widely available, this addressable market is expected to expand further.”
