Netflix Debuts First Trailer for Fan-Favorite Thriller’s Last Episodes

As a die-hard fan of gripping thrillers, I can’t contain my excitement over the jaw-dropping sneak peek into the final season of Netflix‘s hit series, “YOU,” inspired by Caroline Kepnes’ captivating novels.

Previously, the infamous murderer had vanished from sight; his last known location being London. Assuming a new identity as Professor Jonathan Moore at a local university, he thought to have left his criminal past behind him. However, it became evident that his former life continued to haunt him. In the course of his stay in London, he began associating with high-society circles.

Following an impressive debut of Season 4, the series YOU was swiftly given the green light for its fifth and concluding season. However, industrial actions disrupted the initial schedule, which had slated its premiere for 2024. Filming started in March and concluded by summer.

First Look at Penn Badgley in You Season 5

The 40-second sneak peek reveals Joe (Penn Badgley) within The Cage, a key element of the series. He’s seen staring intently at the camera while tapping on the glass. “Let’s deepen our acquaintance before we say goodbye for good. Farewell, my friend.” As suggested by the preview, the new season is set to premiere in April, hinting that a more detailed trailer might be released soon, offering a glimpse of additional plot points beyond what recent clips have shown.

About a month ago, Netflix revealed a release date for the next installment of my beloved series, and it looks like Joe will be back at Mooney’s Rare & Used Books. Reflecting on the tumultuous journey of the past few years filled with heartache and geographical shifts, he finds himself exactly where he was destined to be. And amidst all these changes, one constant has remained steadfast – you. “Every step that led me here, brought me to this moment, to the place I was always meant to be,” he muses. “Farewell, my constant companion.

In a turn of events, his previous actions come back to haunt him, yet he narrowly escapes capture. Subsequently, he relocates to the United States, specifically New York, accompanied by Kate (Charlotte Ritchie). The official synopsis goes: “Joe Goldberg seeks a blissful future in New York City, only for his ideal life to be jeopardized by the specters of his past and his innate, sinister impulses.

Although the developments so far have been somewhat disappointing, an exciting addition is on its way with several new characters entering the storyline. The Lockwood family expands as Griffin Matthews takes on the role of Kate’s brother Teddy Lockwood and Anna Camp portrays not just one, but two of their twin sisters named Raegan and Maddie. Madeline Brewer is set to play Bronte, a young writer at Joe’s bookstore who challenges Joe’s new life choices.

In July, Badgley shared with Tudum that each season they discover fresh areas to keep things engaging and up-to-date. This time around, returning to its origins seemed to anchor it in a way that was necessary while still delivering an impressive finale.

YOU Season 5 debuts on Netflix on April 24th.
