I’ve found that animated family films, particularly those from DreamWorks and Illumination, really hold their ground on Netflix. It seems like it’s been a while since any Disney Animation hits graced their service, but when movies from these studios arrive, they truly pack a punch. This is especially noticeable with their big franchises like Shrek, Minions, Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon. Lately, two of the How to Train Your Dragon films have been streaming on Netflix, but sadly, they’re set to leave the platform next week.
Netflix has unveiled its streaming newsletter for the month of April, detailing the upcoming and parting titles over the coming weeks. Some exciting new additions are on the horizon, such as a fresh season of “Black Mirror”, but it’s worth noting that April 1st will be significant for departures. Among the titles leaving us are not only one, but both “How to Train Your Dragon” movies.
It’s clear that “How to Train Your Dragon” will be leaving Netflix and appearing on Peacock starting April, as the entire film trilogy has been announced for Peacock. The first two movies from Netflix will relocate to Peacock along with “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”. This move coincides well with Universal and Peacock, since the live-action version of “How to Train Your Dragon” is set to premiere in cinemas in June. This provides fans an opportunity to rewatch the original trilogy on Peacock before going to the theater.
Coming Soon to Netflix
Starting April 1st, both “How to Train Your Dragon” films on Netflix will be departing, but that’s not all for the streaming service. On the same day, a number of new titles such as “Big Daddy”, “Smokey and the Bandit”, “Field of Dreams”, “Heat”, and “The Breakfast Club” will join the lineup.
