2024’s highly-anticipated movie, which had previously been streamed exclusively on Peacock since January 24, 2025, is now available to watch on Netflix for the first time ever. This isn’t its streaming premiere as it initially aired there, but it’s the second platform to secure the rights for this popular flick. Now that it’s on Netflix, subscribers can stream it for 10 months before it goes back to Peacock exclusivity for another four months. This is all part of Universal’s agreement with Netflix called Pay 1, which allows the movie to be shown on two streaming platforms over time.
Speaking as a cinephile, let me share my thoughts about the movie in question – Universal Pictures’ “The Wild Robot”, a sci-fi animation masterfully directed by Chris Sanders. This captivating film features an impressive cast including Lupita Nyong’o, Mark Hamill, and Pedro Pascal. Released in September 2024, it generated a staggering $334.1 million at the box office on a budget of just $78 million. Not only did it rake in impressive profits, but also garnered widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences. Rotten Tomatoes has given it a remarkable score of 96, with an even higher audience score of 98. These ratings make “The Wild Robot” one of the highest-rated movies of 2024 on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a must-watch for animation enthusiasts like myself.
During the awards season, it won nine Annie Awards, one of which was for Best Animated Feature. Additionally, it received three Oscar nominations, breaking DreamWorks’ record in the process. These nominations were for Best Animated Feature, Best Original Score, and Best Sound. Interestingly, a sequel was announced just a month after its release in theaters.
On a distant, uncharted island, a resourceful robot learns to thrive alongside native creatures and discovers her role in life by caring for a forlorn baby goose – this is the compelling premise behind the Netflix film.

For those who choose to stream “The Wild Robot” by DreamWorks through their Netflix account, you’ll find it runs for approximately one hour and forty-two minutes. The film carries a PG rating, indicating it contains action or peril scenes, as well as mature themes that may not be suitable for all viewers.
Currently, The Wild Robot can be found on both Netflix and Peacock. However, following a 10-month period, it will once again become exclusive to Peacock. As for the future, we’re still unsure about what will happen after this 14-month window. Regarding its sequel, there’s no news yet on when it might be released.
The Wild Robot is available on both Netflix and Peacock right now, but in 10 months it will only be found on Peacock again. We don’t know what will happen after that 14-month period. As for the sequel, we don’t have any information about when it will be released.
